I know its early to start planning but with Kelly gone we need to come up with a place and a plan. So who has an idea where and who wants to cosponsor with me this year? We can't let the tradition die.

When and where does this take place?   Probably won't make it this year, but I'm in talks about a job north of Wichita.  Hopefully I'll be up that way before too long.

Kelly was a great host and will be missed. I will be hunting some public land around Salina and will see if I find anything promising. One of my favorite hunts of the year.

Here is a photo of Joe loving something other than a Lab. The dog's name is Roy and his job was to chase Griz out of camp at night which he was good at.

Good times. He was good at his job missed him this year in Colorado . Hope your season goes well John. You should come down to visit if we get this bunny thing going.

Hopefully this lands on the one weekend a month I get off. I hated missing this the last couple years. If you guys are willing to come way out west I can start looking for some possible spots.

Well, we've had them in NE Kansas,Valley Falls, Central Kansas(?),Riley, so West would work.
The main thing should be finding someplace in Kansas that actually has some rabbits...   ;)
  :)

K.S.TRAPPER

Start hunting tree rats instead, then you guys might start killing stuff then at least a lot more shots. Bunny's are thin everywhere in KS. IMO

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

Bryan pinick

I have intended on participating in this, and haven't yet. Maybe this year.

lablover

Man Paul your getting awfully picky rabbits available at the rabbit hunt what a concept. Besides if we had rabbits we would have to stop talking and shoot.  Yeah John, I'd be willing to go west as long as there's someplace to stay.

Paul/KS

Well, I wasn't complaining mind you, it's just the guys in the other states might be making fun of us since we do more stomping per rabbit than they have to do.
Though I'll bet they don't get to shoot at little yellow rubber ducks...   :D
  ;)

Anybody got any ideas for where? Cant do when until where is determined. somewhere central state best but no ruling out other places. Hope everyone is doing well with deer season.

Paul/KS

Well I'd guess the "When" will be after all the deer bow season. How's the area around Kanopolis for the "Where"?
It's pretty Central and, while I know there are deer and turkeys there, are there any rabbits?

lablover

Don't know but I'll try and get up that way and do some stompin around.

I'm 30 minutes from kanopolis. I can go and check it out. I'll post results. Might be awhile before I can go over there I'm in nebraska for work for till this job is finished. I know there are squirrels there. Behind the dam it seems like a place there should be rabbits.

Great anymore ideas let us know we are open for suggestions on where and when.

I was over at Kanopolis for a rabbit scouting trip and trout fishing expedition. I focused behind the back of the dam. The terrain and habitat look like there should be bunnies lining up to accept arrows. I walked approximately 3 miles through the area with no bunnies sighted. What I did find was what appeared to be a good place to deer hunt next year. Saw a few squirrels. Might be able to scare up more bunnies with more stompers as I was solo today.

Oh yea I caught 1 trout also. If anyone else has any more ideas for where I'm game.

I went last year down around pleasanton KS. There were lots of rabbits, and we shot a bunch between 3 people (don't remember exactly how many).

Ignore my sig, I now live around southern Overland Park  (kansas city)

snakebit40

I have the last weekend of this month off. Not sure how that works for everybody else. I'm game to meet somewhere in the central part.
