Finally off work gotta love that stuff .. Anyways me and a real good friend of mine also a fellow trad ganger went to our lease last night after not being able to go the whole week due to work and other obligations we arrived around 5 and started to our stands my personal stand sits in a cedar tree on top of a ridge right in between to bedding thickets to say it's a hot spot is kinda a understatement no more than 30 min on stand and a doe sneaks in circles my set and finds herself 4 yards from my tree quartering away !! Well for most of us here that's a no brainer backstrap tonight ! I stand up grab my windda pick a spot anchor n let it rip ..... Flat miss !! From 4 yards    :banghead:   to say I was over it would be meek at best so after 20 min of sulking over my missed doe movement to my left catches my eye a dandy spike ! As he worked his way closer I seen he had a bigger friend with him in tow a 8 pointer no very big but in the moment he was the prettiest deer in the woods they slowly moved on down closer and closer but suddenly hung up 2 feet away from a clean shot the two sensing something was off kept going up the hill then back and I remember saying come on that's the one I want and no sooner than I said that he took two steps putting him right in front of me broadside at 4 paces from my tree bow in hand I picked a spot and let it fly perfect hit right in the pump station  !! He jumped straight up off all fours and bolted for the timber and as he was running away you could see the blood spueing from both sides he ran about 100 yards n me and my good friend that talked me into selling my Mathews almost 3 years ago went n tracked my first buck with a recurve to say that this has been a ride wouldnt do it justice I've killed way bigger deer in my life but this little 8 is by far the best trophy yet thanks for reading pics to come

Awesome story!  I would agree, the degree of difficulty is often equal to the level of excitement when success strikes!

Good work, and thanks for sharing!

Here is Mark's buck from last night. I was on that blood trail with him...being red green color blind I wasnt much help...but Stevie Wonder could have found that deer so it all worked out. Lol. And I am that guy that persuaded him to ditch the wheel bow several years ago. He is the only one that didnt look at me like an idiot when I mentioned hunting with a trad bow!

None the less we have come along way...and a first buck with a trad bow is something truly special. Great job buddy...and hope we have many more where that one came from.

Oh...and I should be adding a photo of myself alongside Marks...but I choked on a pig of an 8 point last night. Cant kill em all I guess!
