Welp... The year started out with a bang. Had this 6 point come in to my stand location on opening morning of our early deer season. This year is the first year that you could harvest bucks in the management area during what usually was a 2 week early doe only season.

He came in at 6:05 am. Stood at 15 yards and milled around begging for an arrow. Shooting light wasn't until 6:30ish that morning. This buck ended up sticking around until 6:38 am within bow range the whole time. He gave me ample opportunities to harvest him, but it wasn't light enough to identify what exactly he was. Once light enough to analyze him he turned broadside at 18 yards one last time.

My arrow blew through the near side shoulder, centered his heart, and exited through the offside shoulder.

Not bad for quite literally the first hunting minutes of 2015!

Shooting my new WF-19 riser from CD Archery, trad tech black max ILF limbs and a 685 grain GT Trad tipped with a VPA 3 blade.

Going to be wierd hunting the rest of the season without a buck tag in my pocket...

Nice matt, I know the feeling of a early punched buck tag its kind of nice knowing you got one and the pressure is off but on other hand its kind of sad because its a long season and you just never know whats on the other side of the brush. Congrats man and great shot.

Thanks guys. I've got 4 doe tags in my pocket, so I've got 4 good reasons to keep my broadheads sharp  :)
