What do you gain with a static tip over conventional recurves?
Here are a few things about me:

I enjoy Hunting, fishing, raising goats, biking and kayaking. Love living life with my wife and 4 kids out in the country.

Here are my bows and such:
~ Black Widow Bows 66" PLX Longbow 47.5@31"  161fps with 600gr arrow
~ St. Patrick Lake Longbows (SwiftStyk ~ 64" (50#@31" = 161fps 600gr arrow)
~ Hitman Traditional Stykbows #1 (Recurve) (63" 52lb @31") ~

Better throw a Zipper in there. The brand new Z4 static tipped limbs are top shelf.

I just received a new Uukha static tip, ILF. All carbon. Use it with my DAS riser.  WOW!

For a custom grip I would be asking for people to give me a recommendation that have actually had a bowyer build them a custom grip and that are happy with the results.

God bless and good luck, Steve

I thought about the two piece bow, but that still requires a longer bow case and I just like the added mass of a three piece take down  That and they pack down so nice.

thanks for all the inputs, think I am leaning towards a Dwyer or RER at this point. I might take a look at Kirk's bows again. I don't care for belly mounted bows - just one of my personal preferences nothing at all to do with performance.

My Bigfoot SS static just arrived today.  And simply its just... Wow. If I didn't know that Kirk nailed the draw weight I wouldn't guess the bow pulls 70 @ 30.5. Amazes me that he can create a 60" bow that is so smooth at my draw length.  He nailed the grip, and I was of no use on that hahaha, lower wrist was about my only input.

Talking to Kirk is as easy as an old friend, and the process is truly a custom job.

I strongly recommend giving Kirk a call.

Jim Jones at Firefly has been making sweet static recurves for a couple years now.  Jim is a perfectionist and they are wonderful bows.  Just like a host of others that are available, just pick the one that suits you.

Here is one of his recent examples, a new stock bow we just got in.  I am a bit reluctant to post this as I am struggling with just keeping this bow for myself ha ha.  But I can't keep them all.

Braveheart you beat me to it.  I tried out one of Jim Jones' static recurves at Great Lake Longbow Invitational two years ago and was very pleasantly surprised.  Now I just have to come up the the cash and justification for getting another bow.

I'll put another vote in for Dryad.  Whether you want a bolt down or and ILF they make a smoking, smooth static tip RC!

Dave if you reread what you posted it says that Abe is making them right now so you are on the hunt...since that does not make sense I am guessing you are saying Abe is not making them right now which is very confusing to me since he still lists the Taiga as available for a custom build...it always amazes me when people rely on a bowyers website without calling them to discuss possibilities...there are probably a lot of people that think that Brandon Stahl no longer makes some things he used to make, but a simple phone called assured me that he does...Mike Mecredy once built me a bow that has never appeared on his website and very likely never will...we live in an age where younger folk believe that if there is no presence on a website a product does not exist...nothing could be further from the truth where traditional bows are concerned...and btw Jack Kempf has never claimed his limbs to be static tips...they are great shooters, but Jack calls them a semi-static limb

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I am not sure how the Border bows got left out of this discussion...pretty clearly the Hex 7 limbs are a quantum leap in limb technology...just read Pete Ward's review of the Covert Hunter

Yep... Dave is right about Kempf bows being semi-static rather than "static". I mistakenly called them static in an earlier post. Sorry.

I really do like how they shoot though.

DDave - yes I meant he is not making a three piece static limb recurve. And yes I did contact Abe.
