I'll have some up soon.  Maybe not with an elk, but I've got some good looking mountains.

No Horns and No feathers. I had a chance to hike into the spot I have hunted over the years and hunt for four days. The elk had been at head of the drainage I like to hunt sometime before I arrived. The sign in and use of the area was less apparent than other years. The wind was more constant and would have been easier to work with if the elk had been there. I did hear a couple of bugles from a hole that was off limits to me. I did not see as many grouse either. I spent some time sitting uphill, with the wind in my favor, of a couple of wallows with good trails coming to them.
Wallow 18-20yrds down slope.

I also worked my way into a couple of other drainages and did some bugling - all was quite.
Packing Out.

On the way out I sat and looked out over some of the country  I have been hunting over the years.

Maybe the sundog was showing me where the elk were?

In Idaho, elk are tight lipped but we have till Friday, just enjoying the time in the mountains with my dad.

Shot this cow opening morning in Colorado, hadn't been in the woods for half an hour. I couldn't let her walk that close to camp.

Got this cow in New Mexico this week with a Red Water Longbow made for me by Neal Brown 13 years ago and an Abowyer head on a Wilderness Custom arrow.

And my favorite one....of course.

Hoyt Buffalo, 51-lbs at my draw, 560 Gr arrow with a Wasp 150 gr SharpShooter Traditional. Slight quartering away shot and saw him fall after an 80-yard run. And surprise, I used a decoy....
