I am looking for a bowyer who makes a quality self-bow.  I have checked the internet, but, I wanted to get the opinion of fellow TRADGANG members and rely upon your advise and recommendation.  If possible, contact information would be valuable.  Thanks......

Contact Carson at Echo Archery. He is a sponsor on here. I know him personally and have one of this bows. Quality guy and his bows are functional works of art. You won't be sorry!

My friend John Pruitt makes some nice selfbows and wood bows. He's currently making a bamboo backed osage bow that you shoot off the knuckle for $145 delivered to your door. If you would like his contact info, just send me a PM.

I'd take Pearlie up on his offer in a second. He makes as good of selfbows as anyone.

I think the guys above listed some great bowyers for you and Pearl Drums makes a great bow too. I've seen his work here and on PA and it's top notch,  that said Id like to try and talk you into trying to build one yourself. You really don't need a lot of tools. Most of the tools you need at first can be scrounged up cheap from flea markets, auctions etc.  It's a good time! My 1st bow was the most ugly crude thing you ever saw I hacked it out of a birch log cause it was handy and straight and I think it was listed in Paul Comstocks book "The Bent Stick" as serviceable bow wood.  I hacked it out of log 1st with machete then Stanley shur form then pocket knife as scraper. I tillered it by drawing it in front of mirror. Like I said That 1st bow was a mess but the 1st shot from it put a Zwickey broadhead (the broadhead was handy and seemed like a good idea at the time for the maiden shot)  high and right over my target and right thru my landlords shed! I couldn't believe the power!! I was hooked! It only lasted 100 shots before the belly started to crush but my next bows I took my time and got some real durable shooters. I relate this story  to try to show that if a hack like me can make a decent selfbow ANYONE can and I know that for me anyway the decent bows I've made myself mean more to me than anything I could buy. That said  I'd really like a Dean Torges bow but there rarely for sale. (Deans book "Hunting the Osage Bow" would be the first thing I'd buy if you think you might like to try building a bow) Good luck with whatever you do but think about trying to build one.

Having Pearl Drums make you a bow would be something truly special!

Mike at pinehallow has real nice DIY kits, I new nothing about making a self bow.

I got the Osage flat bow kit, it comes floor tillerd.

I watch some YouTube videos and mike gave some advice.

While it's not perfect mine shots like a champ.

I though self bows were kind of a joke.

Boy was I wrong, the Osage spits an arrow out.

Mine is 66" 42@28.

If I can make one anyone can.

fishone

I have one on Pearl Drums all osage. It not only looks good, it flat out shoots an arrow.

Jim Wright

I have one of Jim Rempp's Yew self bows and don't know how one could be better. I saw him a couple of months ago at Dan Toelke's shop. He is a pleasure to deal with and still makes and keeps a number of stock bows as well I believe.

PEARL DRUMS

All this x2 x3x x4 x5 stuff is very flattering, thank you for the kind words gentleman. It means the world coming from my peers.
