I use a boonie cap normally but, have been thinking about one of those wool caps. They just look so cool! Anyway does anyone wear one? the reason I like the boonie is that it will bend down when the string hits it and keep out of the way. Will the brim on these guys do that too or are they pretty stiff?

Two Tracks, they are a sponsor. I own both a fleece hat for work and a wool Coups cap for hunting. Money well spent JMHO.

Jakeemt.
If you are talking about our Coups Caps, They are very Pliable. I have just enough bill there to give some shading to the eyes, so the string may not contact anyhow. If it does, it will fold out of the way.
We have some listed on our site now, and plenty more we need to get listed. Let me know if I can help.

Love mine, doesn't get in the way, and comfy fit.

I was thinking more about a circular brimmed hat. It looks like you put out some very high quality products but, not really what I am looking for style wise.

Grey wolf woolens has what you want. They will make you one according to your head size. Great quality bucket wool hat

NBK

Is this the kind of hat you're thinking of or more of the fedora type?

This is a Gray Wolf Woolens.  Stock size large in Predator brown wool.  No problem with the bowstring.

I'm partial to ones like this from 3 Rivers:

I bought a similar one on my honeymoon in Quebec, love that hat!  The full brim is especially nice during periods of downpour while exposed on a mountain slope glassing for goats or caribou.

I like that Gray Wolf!

Is it bad form to piggy back and see what people suggest for warmer climates? I have a nice felt fedora, but it's rarely cold enough to wear it here in California.
I've been thinking about the real deal cuba libre, but not sure if the bill is short enough.

Ceb

I've used fedora style wool felt hats for years with no problems, the brims being soft enough the string just pushes it out of the way. Also have some fur felt fedoras the same way.

King oggi the Mountain makes a very soft Boonie wool hat.

Chucks is amazing from Two Tracks. I highly recommend it.  Functional and warm, very warm with the ear flaps. I like less brim than boonie
