I am curious to know what you guys think is the fastest R/D bow you have ever shot?  to keep it as simple as possible, lets keep it 62" or shorter and accommodate at least a 30" draw..

But its end is the way of death."  Proverbs 14:12

Haven't shot one, but the ACS bows are supposed to be as fast or faster than any recurve on the market.  Just what I've read.  I'm sure some of the guys on here have shot them.  I believe the technology in the limbs is actually patented.  Not a lot of new tech on the trad scene these days that's unique enough to qualify for a new patent.  I will say that I just got my first RD longbow, a 47# Flatwoods Custom (disqualified cause it's 64"), and there's little noticeable difference between it and my mid 60s 53# Red Wing Hunter recurve.

I have several ACS longbows. Very fast, though I wouldn't recommend a 62-inch for a 30-inch draw. In an ACS, a 66-inch is a much better choice for a 30-inchn draw.

The only other 3-piece hybrid that I've found that shoots with an ACS is a Morrison Shawnee.  Unfortunately, Bob isn't making Shawnee limbs right now.

A&H Acs is the one for sure. Larry makes a great bow and his newer limbs are amazing he is a genius. If you want a high performance longbow his is the one.     Widow

Just recently chronoed my 62"A&H ACX 1 piece 59@28, I draw right at 28. 694gr arrow at 171FPS. For comparisons sake my 62# Schafer recurve shot the same arrow at 174Fp. Pretty impressive I thought.

It doesn't really matter because there are too many variables to consider. (e.g. arrow weight)

can't speak to a 30" draw, cause I only draw 27", but I've owned all the high end r/d's and the fastest I've owned is a bigfoot Sasquatch and the second fastest was a centaur triple carbon. But all the top end ones are within a couple fps of each other

awbowman

I've shot an ACS and it did indeed seem faster than anything I've ever shot.

But quietness kills better than speed IMO

Never done any speed test but I promise you the Zipper Nitro is no slouch in the speed department.

In no particular order- Centaur, Dryad ACS, Habu, Border Raptor, Zipper, Morrison, Cari-bow, etc.

Of those the Centaur, Habu, Zipper and Dryad ACS are prolly the real smokers.
52" Texas Recurve
58" Two Tracks Ogemaw
60" Toelke Chinook
62" Tall Tines Stickflinger
64" Big Jim Mountain Monarch
64" Poison Dart LB
66" Wes Wallace Royal

Horse Creek TAC, GA

Steelhead

I think these are at the higher end of speed.Centaur,Cari-bow Peregrine,,Whippenstick with carbon back,Toelke's newer HS Whip has excellent speed,Matlock X-3,ACS and foam/carbon Morrison Dakota.

Their are many other superb performers. Those I listed just come to mind of the ones I have had that are hybrid style longbows with more radical limbs that smoked pretty good.

Fastest I've ever shot was a Bigfoot 1 piece Sasquatch Longbow.

Centaurs are the fastest I've shot.

Phillip Fields

My 62" ACS is the fastest I've shot.

Bigfoot Sasquatch, fast and well timed limbs. Kirk builds them draw length specific to maximize performance at your draw length.
shoot straight shoot often

RC

Matlock X2 for me. I`ve found I shoot slower bows better. RC

Bullfrog 1

In my testing it was the Whippenstick.   Bill

I've owned a few and shot a bunch of the ones listed above. Most bows with a good reputation for being fast are fast on my chronograph.

Now the important thing for me is how they shoot with a hunting weight arrow, while setup for hunting. Some of the high speed bows give up quite a bit with heavy arrows, string silencers, and a strap on bow quiver.

Sounds good at 20-30 yards speed great; I like hear what people think of the sound or noise their road-running bows produce you cannot say noise is not a factor when hunting maybe not with a 380fps cross bow.

My Border Harrier my fastest bow but also the nosiest bow carbon limbs has a high tone type noise going try different custom strings see what can be done.My Border also my highest poundage bow so that plays in ,The Fastest bows always seem picky on broad heads and arrow spline so I am now drawn to smooth drawing and bows that shoot noiseless as they can be.The White Wolf Max P is a cool one check out with 10-20 pound adjustable range with the double set of limbs I am having one made now .Seem them at the range at 20 yards you only hear the arrow hitting the target that amazing,,,,,,,,they are very fast also,,,,,,

White Wolf Max P 40-55 lb adjustable longbow..

Border Harrier #53 carbon fast as A BOW CAN BE.

reddogge

A pretty fast bow is an Omega. I have the Delta 3 piece. Easy on the pocketbook for a bow that performs as well as it does.
