It seems like I read a thread on here a while back in regard to sling style ground seats that were very packable and had good reviews but I cannot remember what they were called.

Does anyone know what I'm referring to and any thoughts on a sling style seat?

Thank You!

I may be mistaken but I believe you're thinking of the Hunter's Hammock Seat. Straps onto the trunk of a tree and has a single post that holds the bottom out.

I highly recommend it. Only down side is that you need a tree, but nearly all the places I hunt have those.

I thought there was one without the post...

I had one that had two straps that was to be tied about three or four feet up the trunk and then a canvas seat that was free hanging. do not remember the name.  It was a real hip wedge, so a fit a piece of plywood in it and added a butt pad that I could clip to my belt. I still have the butt pad, but the sling has long been stolen, like almost everything else that I ever leave over night in our public woods.  I have found the the Nifty Seat with the long stake and my butt pad to be more comfortable and more versatile, easy to carry assembled with just nylon web belt around my waist, that goes through the seat frame and around the stake, quiet to set up, and very steady if I have something to lean against.  I have also found that the Grizzly strap on seat very easy to use, but I do make a bit of noise when ratcheting the belt tight.
A newer one that I believe is still around is called ez hunter sitdrag.

Could use a torges seat. Simple, cheap, and versatile.

I think he was looking for this one,   ez hunter sit drag.  They sell for less than $50, but looking at the pics, I would think that they could get a bit tight on the hip bones.

It's called a Hammock Seat.  I bought one for use this year at the recommendation of my hunting partner.  He used one a lot on an elk hunt last year.  Light, quiet, easy to set up and very comfortable and maneuverable.

Orion- are you referring to the one with the post?

Thanks!

Well, it's not cheap because it's designed as a treestand but I think the Guidos Web make a great and very very comfortable ground tree seat.

There's the Hunters Smart Seat but I believe it requires two trees relatively close together.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.
