Hey guys I've got a new bow being built it will be here next week it's a psa x "62" 42# @ 29 I'm going to be shooting aluminum arrows out of it I wanna try a 1916 "30" long with 200 grains up front does anyone else shoot a widow around these specs with aluminum arrows ? Thanks in advance guys

JMO,but at that length with 200gr up front. I think 1916 may be weak.

I haven't shot many aluminums out of mine, but I have shot some full length 2016's with 225 grains up front and they flew great.  I have a 60" PCH 51# @ 28".  2018's fly good for me as well, those were cut to 30".  I have been shooting gold tips lately, both 3555's and 5575's give me good flight as well, all with 225 grain tips.

I'm guessing that will be week too.  Thinking more 2016 or even 2018 at that length.  I've got some 2018 here if you make it that far.

Even for 42#  a 2016 I shot a 2016 out of a 58 # big Jim just seems like a lot of arrow . Does a widow just cast really hard ?

Being that widows are cut further past center...I too feel that your 1916 arrow with 200 grains up front will fly weak.  Play with point weight and try 125,145,175.  If you are a dead set on 200 grains up front then maybe a 2016 would be better. but shoot the arrows and report back!

Try running the numbers on Stu Millers spine calculator, but I think you will need a 2016, or even a 2213.

I guess I should have clarified I'm not dead set on 200 grains up front " Sry guys" I can go down in point weight just want to try to get the 1916 to fly right Bc I've already got a dozen of them and we're getting down to the wire in ky until the opener

Guess I am one of the guys that doesn't go heavy weight up front.  Shot 145 Eskilites last year, but down to 125 Montecs this year.
You never know until you try lighter tips.

When you get your bow, there will be an arrow chart in the owners manual  specificly for the Black Widow bows. That will give you a basic idea. In my experience, (20 yrs of shooting Widows) it's been pretty accurate.

1916s might be weak.  My Widows liked stiff arrows.  I used 2117s with my 44# PTF.  I thought they were too stiff but bare shaft tuning don't lie.  I had 145gr up front and they flew nice.  Try bare shaft tuning when the bow arrives.  And congrats on the purchase!

I can tell from what I have found. A widow will shoot a stiffer arrow compared to other bows.

My setup for a 58" ironwood PSA is 2115, 29", 145 grain razor heads for the 45# limbs and bump up to 2117 for the 53# limbs. Using Hoyt pro rest, flying like lasers.
