bear takedown?

Again, based solely on my opinion, I like their beauty, quality of craftsmanship, long history, nostalgic past that goes with them, and the fact that I had dreamed of owning one for 40 years and finally brought that dream to fruition. I was not disappointed.

I want one as well they are beautiful. Hopefully in the next couple of years. They have the best take down system I've ever seen, and you can make 3 different length bows. I want the new riser with #1 limbs so bad. Would make a sweet hunting bow. I've been thinking about it everyday since I saw the new models. The bubinga and maple riser is pretty slick. They are definitely ain't cheap though.

I agree with Kevin and also add the fact that the new limbs don't give up much of anything performance wise to any other bows on the market. I have also wanted one for several decades. I remember having my pick of 1/2 dozen hanging on the rack at the Bear factory when I visited it in the mid 80's and regrettably, just couldn't pull the trigger. I have made up for lost time in the past five years though as I now have 11 of the new model bows on my rack.

I have 4 of them and love them all. Quick to take town, shoot great and have history behind them. The new ones are as good as one made 30 years ago IMO

The new Bear TDs are actually quite a bit less expensive than most custom three-piece recurves. They take down without the need for tools. Have a wide variety of limbs on the secondary market to choose from to add great versatility. They look nice and shoot good. One of the best deals going, IMO.

They aren't that much money...but everything is relative. you can't compare it to used. They are very fine bows.

I'm a longbow guy, BUT the bear takedowns I have shot , and owned one green stripe and it was just a phenomenal bow. Don't see how you could ask for better. I ONLY sold mine because I do not like relying on a stringer to string my bows so recurves are out.

I also owned a new 59r from Bear and it too was just an amazing bow. BEAR does it right

Depends on what your paying. Great shooting bow. The new red tip Bear limbs appear to outperform the earlier limbs. If you are looking for a comparison check out the Heritage TD offered by Brandon Stahl. It is lighter in mass weight and faster to boot.

That being said, I got to examine some new Bear TDs at Big Jim's tent at TBOF this past weekend and I was very impressed by the fit/finish and how slender the risers were and how narrow the limbs were, in pictures they always looked a little chunky but they most certainly are not. I would happily own one. The 59er is also a lovely bow in person.

It all depends on who is holding the bow! For any given bow, one guy will say it is the best thing since sliced bread, while another guy will say it is the worst bow out there.

Bear makes solid products that have been proven over a looooooong time.

Whether a bow is a "good one" or not is very subjective, and is all up to the guy who is thinking about buying it. That is why I would never buy any bow I could not shoot first.
