Does anyone have a source for a good, leather-pocket longbow or R/D bow stringer? And, if you do, do you have a link to the maker's information?

I know I can use the push/pull method to string up my bow, but I really do prefer a stringer -- especially when I am involved in tuning and changing the brace height.

Any help finding a good source would be appreciated.

I much prefer the cup and block type stringer to the 2 end-cup types. I can use the cup and block on my static tip recurves or my longbow, but the 2-cup types scare the daylights out of me on my static tips. I have two different brands, but they all work fine for me. Selway makes a good one.

I made the mistake on one of them of shortening it up so it would be handier with just one foot on the string. Mistake! They work far better with two feet spread out under your shoulders so the string is pulling pretty much straight down. Eliminates the tendency of the block to slide back down the limb.

I like the stringer supplied by Black Widow and have used them for years.  I don't know if they are the mfg, but they sell them separately.

I second the Webster stringer with a pocket on each end.  A&H sells them as well.

Always liked the Selway stringers best until I shot a Caribow.  Abe sends out a Thunderhorn stringer with his bows and they are far and away the best stringer design available today.  3 Rivers sells them.

I like the Black Widow stringer for recurves, but I like the Selway stringer better for longbows.  Sometimes the top nock cup on the BW stringer (or any other two cup stringer) slips off the upper tip of the longbow because the longbow tips are pointed down when in braced position.   Believe me, this will wake you up if it ever happens to you!  The block on the Selway prevents this from happening.

I've never tried the Thunderhorn, referred to above, so it could be even better as VI Archer thinks it's better than Selway.

Frankly, I prefer to string a longbow with the push-pull method, unless it has a lot of reflex/deflex, then I prefer to use a Selway.

RMSG has a good one.  Actually,  they have two similar ones.
