Hello to all:

Having just posted this mistakenly in classifieds.....

I am new to this forum, having found it and signed up today. Six years ago (pre-children and job change), I started into traditional archery with a $40 used Shakespear (sp?) bow and Fred Asbell's books.

Now the bug has bitten me again, and I am interested in members views on this bow for a 29" draw lefty. What I have found on the web is pretty strongly in favor of it, and the price is very low.

Thanks in advance

Hi Bill, welcome to the gang.   :wavey:

I can't give you any advice on this bow but I'm sure someone will come along soon and help you out. I have read a few posts on Checkmate bows and I don't recall any of them being negative. Hold tight I'm sure someone will help you out.

I have a Falcon and it's a great shooting bow. Check and see what LBR (Chad) has at recurves.com

Bill,

First, welcome to Tradgang. I would suggest you contact my good friend Dennis at Git-r-Done Archery, a sponsor here. He carries Check-mate bows, knows the bowyer, and is just a great guy to boot. IMO, a great bow for a great price. No frills, basic hunting equiptment.

Hi Bill. I'm over in Rutland if you ever want to talk bows. You're being a lefty would present some problems in your trying my bows though.

Thanks for the input so far, folks. In surfing around the site, it is just what I have been looking for.

Any comparison in your minds between the Chek-Mate Falcon and the Bear Grizzly?

Love my Falcon.  Too bad I made my own longbow this summer that I love, and my poor ChekMate is lonely now.  Too bad you are left handed.  It is a solid bow, with good performance for an incredible price.

I think the Falcon is nicer than the Grizzly as it will perform as well and ya can get a choice in woods or at least a choice of bows, not just pulled off a rack and sent to ya. Brent has it right as well as Chad at recurves.com has them. Shawn

I have a close friend who has used one now for about five or six years and likes it more than is cherished Howatt Hunters.    I think it's probably the best one-piece bow value out there.

Falcon recurve on its way to Vermont, from Ron at Heights Archery. Only place I could find with one in stock...

42#@28 = ~45#@29; 60" Bubinga riser with red elm limbs.

And now for a longbow.... and a takedown recurve... and bows for the little ones....

Thanks everyone.

Welcme to Trad Gang the Falcon is a good bow at a fair price.  I have owned a couple of them.
