Toilet paper is one of those things I never leave home without, and I end up using it for marking at times, when I need something.

Like you said, It's white, and I only use it for it's intended purpose in gun season. That's scary in itself around here.

The past few years, I have taken empty medicine bottles (the older you get the more of those you have) and stuffed surveyors tape into it until it's full.  I cut a 1/16th" slot in the lid and feed the end of the tape through the slot.  I've now got a huge supply of marking material that takes up minimal space, and doesn't unravel.

Bob, I've started buying brightly colored party napkins for use in lieu of TP.  I also "never leave home without it".  In my younger days, I had my share of one armed and short tailed longjohn shirts!!

I like the party napkin idea too, but the medicine bottle with the slit in it is an awesome idea. I'll be using that one, thanks.

In the heavy bush like in Canada, I carry string tracker string. I'll tie off a pull it off as I track.  10X better then TP.  

For night time tracking I have clothes pins with reflective tape on them and clip those on branches up high along the track..  If you loose the track shin your light back on your trail and you'll see a few of those reflectors, they will almost always point you in the right direction.

If I have to back out on a track at night I tie off a big white trash bag on the last spot of blood so in the morning you can spot that bag right off and don't waste time looking for where you left the track.
