Ed has had a setback. There were some complications with his stomach bypass, so they are going to have to delay his cancer treatment until he gains enough strength to undergo another surgery to repair the problem.

He's still in good spirits, but, as you might imagine, all of this is taking a toll on him.

If any of you are so inclined, I'm sure he would appreciate a card or a note of encouragement.

His address is:  905 Geis St, Grants, NM 87020

Being involved in the archery industry I have found it best to keep my opinions to myself about other bowyers' products.  There are only a few bowyers I truly admire and Ed Scott is one of them.

I own one of his bows, not because I need another bow, but because I admire his craftsmanship and the artistry of his work.

He's a treasure of the traditional archery community and we all need him to get better soon!

Guys its not good for Ed. I spoke with him today and he said that his cancer is inoperable and incurable. I hate to even say anything here about it because it is such a personal and private matter, but I know that many would like to know. It was a tear filled conversation that we had and we both talked of our mutual love and respect for each other as well as the many fine bows that we had worked on together over the years. It was hard talking about it but I am glad that we had that last week of our bow class here this month to talk and visit. He and I have spent many hours talking over the phone, in his shop as well as mine and at shows and hunts all over the country and are hours that I will cherish the rest of my life.
I told him that I didn't want to impose and talk to long and take away from his time with Carolyn and his family. He hoped that I could come for one more visit after we get back from Maine next week and I hope that we can as well.
I told Ed that he had changed my life as well as many others by knowing him and I thanked him for what he had done for me as well as the rest of the archery world.
Keep Ed and the family in your prayers and lets allow them to spend time together while they can.

One personal observation about Ed that always brought a smile to my face was his involvement in youth archery programs.  I would hesitate to guess how many youngsters got there start shooting a free bow from Ed.  He was never hesitant to give a bow away to a deserving youth.  That is top notch in my book.  Mike

He gave em to adults too.

Oh my gosh, what sad news. Our prayers and thoughts go out to him and his family.

I've seen his work first hand up at Shrewhaven Lodge a couple of years ago.  Ron LaClair had one of Ed's bows he made for Ron up at camp. It truly is a work of functional art. Ed certainly is a great artist/bowyer.

I'm very sad to hear about Ed's condition. He is a bright star in the galaxy of bow makers, a very talented and generous person. I have several of Ed's bows. When I get the urge to go primitive, Ed's bow is the one that goes with me.

He is in my thoughts and prayers.

Life is like a wet sponge, you gotta squeeze it until you get every drop it has to offer
