Huh, I didn't realise that Trond. It doesn't make much sense, does it?

If there are enough people there that would be interested in bowhunting, and you all voiced your opinions, maybe you could get it passed. Like you said, grouse, hare, anything. If they'd give in to that, you'd have your foot in the door for bigger game at some point too. I hope it happens for you in the future.

Kirk, thanks for the flyer! I wasn't even aware there was a shoot going on. I have to check with the boss and see what's on the calendar but, I may try and make it up there. If I do, I'll definitely look you up and set a spell.

Unfortunately in PA the only options outside of deer season are gobblers for a month in the spring, then woodchucks, coyotes, and crows all summer. Everything else (all small game, fall turkey, etc.) is all only open during deer season.

Makes for a longggg break from November to October when there's nothing to hunt     :(
I'll second that. Pa is kinda dead.
You can try bow fishing. That is pretty fun.

As Trond will know, there is very little likelihood of bowhunting, especially with traditional tackle, being allowed in Norway anytime in the foreseeable future. A recent effort to gain approval has failed in a big way.

Not wishing to cause pain for him and the others "der borte", I am reluctant to point out that here in NH, trad bowhunting can be done for coyotes year around, as well as some small game species. Putting that aside, we have a month of spring turkey, nearly three months of fall bear, three months of fall deer and turkey, three months of fall grouse, and six months of hare hunting. In short, there are only four months when hunting for something other than coyotes, etc. is not permitted.

i hunt private and public. There are 4-5 WMA within 2 hours of my house. The closest one is about 30 minutes. I really enjoy scouting in then off season so I always look for something to do. This is when I learn a lot about the WMA. I get up and go in the early mornings I take a Map water snack and a good pair of walking shoes and go for half a day. I take my bow and stump shoot as well.

I'm sorry to hear that, and as good as my intentions were, I apologise for sticking my nose in something I know nothing about.

Trond, if you ever come to the US, and circumstances will allow it, you have an open invitation to come and bow hunt with me.

Bob
