I was wondering what broadheads everyone uses. I have been looking at the vpa 2 blade, RFA 2 blade and the Simmons 2 blade. Anyone have any thoughts on these broadheads.I shoot a 50lb recurve.

Whitetail Addict

I haven't tried the heads you mention, so I can't offer any advise on them. They all have lots of devotees.

I've used Wensel Woodsmans for years on everything I hunt here in NY, from small game to the few bears I've killed, and everything in between. They're a great head IMO, but there are lots of other good ones out there too. Just get them SHARP.

Welcome to Trad Gang, you're gonna love it here.

Use a fixed 2 blade of good quality (there are several) and press on.

Lots of well made 2 blades out there. My next broadhead will be a single bevel cutthroat head if they can ever keep any in stock long enough for me to get some.

I have been looked at the woodsman elites as well, just didn't know if I would get as good of penatration as the 2 blade broadheads.

Ryan, good to see you're from Oklahoma! I'm a big fan of the 3 blade heads especially Original Snuffer 145/160 gr. but I've killed whitetail with quite a few 2 blade heads...zwickey, stos, ace have been my favorites.

Sam McMichael

I use Zwickey and Magnus 2 blade heads. Used to use Bear razorheads, but ran out of them.

I use the Simmons broadheads and I'm sold! I shot a nice fat buck last fall with them and made very short work of him.... 45 yard recovery.

Good luck and God bless,

Any of the three you listed have good reputations. You've got plenty of bow for any two blade head so keep to one of the ones you listed or something similar in reputation and you will do great.

I love the both the Simmons and vpa. I use 190gr Simmons Interceptors 250 gr vpa. They both fly like darts and penetrate well.

I have three top broadheads that usually get a spot in my quiver sometime during hunting season.
1. Simmons treeshark
2. Zwickey Delta 4 blade
3. Wensel Woodsman 3 blade.
These three heads have proven themselves to me to cut the biggest wound channels and leave the best blood trails for me, and they're all tough as nails. I just pick one of them and go hunting (although I will admit I am getting more and more partial to the Simmons after seeing what they can do).

I've killed our okie deer with, stos, ziwikee, and magnus stingers, bear razor heads, and grizzly. Sharp broadheads and Shot placement is key.

I just picked up some Cutthroats. They're machined out of a single piece of steel, they feel indestructable and group with my field points.

Thanks everyone for the help

I like heavy heads in the 200+ gr range.  Currently shooting the Grizzly Kodiak and Instinct, and VPA 3 blades, all glue on with wood shafts.

Right now I'm shooting the abowyer 200 grain screw in. The build quality is really amazing.

That about sums it up.......
Grizzly, STOS, Zwickey, Ace and Simmons make up the top of my list though........

They all work, just some of them sharpen more easy than others and often times that attribute costs a little to a lot more money! I recently bought some of the Cutthroats from rmsgear and wow did the sharpen easy and hold an edge unlike any I shot before! And great guarantee to boot! They are a mid level priced head!
