Last evening, I was able to watch several turkeys fly to roost. The problem with where they roosted was, it was very close to a road, on the edge of a pond and very close to my access woods Rd.

I decided that I would leave even earlier than usual and try to slip past them I the dark.

I slipped down the logging road at 3:30am. I was able to ghost my way past the birds and get my blind set up without disturbing anything

At 5:15 a bird started gobbling, to my right, from the roost. After 15 minutes he flew down away from me. I gave a few soft calls. He went crazy! He came storming into about 40 yards but would not cross a small creek (about 3' wide!). He strutted and gobbled his brains out but would not cross.

After about 45 minutes, that bird decided it had had enough and moved off. He would gobble occasionaly as he left.

10 minutes later, I gave a series of soft calls. Moments later, I could hear something coming from my left.

5 birds had slipped in silently. The biggest, broke into strut and bumped my jake decoy. As he turned, almost facing me, I picked a feather, just to the left of his beard, drew, anchored and released.

The Snuffer 160 tipped arrow hit exactly where I was looking! The bird flipped in the air then hobbled 15 yards and went down for good.

Awesome! Good shot, and congrats on a nice bird!       It doesn't get much better than that, does it?

Isn't it aggravating when they come to a little creek like that, that they could almost step across, or a barbed wire fence they could just duck under, and hang up on ya?

Nice job!  I think you'll need to get another Centaur with a turkey feather or foot on the handle now.
