My wife, Rachel ( who is my best friend and hunting partner), had our best day ever on the water today. I've been keeping an eye on this spot for a few months just knowing the carp would love it. In the winter, its a dry mud flat with a small stream running through. They started bringing up the water level a few weeks ago and the fish started to trickle in with it.

My buddy Doc Nock came to visit a couple weeks ago to go turkey hunting and bow fishing. We were a little late on the turkeys and they wouldn't cooperate. A little early on the fish in this hole. Had good food and good fellowship but very few fish taken.

Rachel and I got to this spot today at about 10 AM and conditions were perfect. Bright sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, and no wind to ripple the water. We stepped out of the truck and heard them splashing and we both said, "Oh my, here we go!"

I'd say we killed 20 fish in the first 20 minutes we were there! Perfect, shot after shot after shot. We got em a little stirred up and the action lulled after about an hour. It took a little more dedication and some wading but we stayed on fish.

46 carp and 2 suckers in less than 2 hours. I'm sure I've said this before but it bears saying again...I love my wife!

Pics ASAP.

shag, you are a fortunate man, to have a wife who enjoys what you do and a great bowfishing spot!
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

Nice --but your truck is gonna smell bad.

Lol Crooked Stic. I already soaked it with Dawn and hosed it out twice. It does still carry a little "essence de carp." That's the wife's truck anyways. She's a taxidermist and smells don't bother her none. Me...on the other hand...I'll probably still gag when I smell it in the heat of the day tomorrow.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Great haul!! Man oh man ,could I use a few hours of bowhunting for carp. You smoking those carp or fertilizing the garden?
mangonboat

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

Heck of day...congrats to the both of u!!
Aim small...Miss small!!

Mark, everything in the garden got planted yesterday. Can't add fish now cause the varmints would wreck what's planted. All the fish went in the woods behind the house...fertilize the timber. We never leave our kills on the bank or toss them back...but neither do we eat them. I've read your posts and know that you are a big bow fisherman and a good sportsman.

Just a little side note to add to anyone who may not be in the know......never leave fish carcasses on the bank! Other folks who enjoy the outdoors in other ways look down upon it (as do I).  There are certain groups out there who see this mess left on the bank and it gives fuel to their fires to lobby against bowfishing. We are all in this together. And every carp we can kill helps to restore our waterways to a more natural ecosystem. We will never kill them all. But...BOY are they fun to shoot! I want to be able to take my great grand kids bowfishing. Keep the banks clean and the antis off our backs.

I've got a buddy in Iowa who has to go head to head with the lobbyists/antis/rod and reel fisherman constantly...because a few bad apples leave their kills on the bank. Didn't mean to get off on a tangent....

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

Try a couple bottles of lemon juice in the truck bed , that should help with the smell.

Great day, indeed!
Real nice to be able to share with your wife. Also nice to see you doing your share to help out. Her truck but you're working at the cleanup. Good on ya, man.
That's a good tangent you got off on. Any "litter" left behind is NOT welcome. Good on ya, again.
