Aloha Gang,

Sorry but I've been away for a bit. Started a new job this year and when I wasn't working, I was in the field. So much has happened in the New Year.

I figured I'd start out with sharing some images of Doug on a recent hunt here on Oahu.

Signing in at the check in station.

Ah this is going to be a cool thread I think!

I tried to show Doug what the lantena brush looked like, but before I could, he had already introduced himself. Sorry Doug!

It's not fun to get stuck in this stuff!

Ryan Sanpei

We heard some goats "talking" and were in pursuit. At this point we were about 200 yards below them.

Doug made a stalk on the herd.

Unfortunately the wind switched on him and off the goats went. Here's Doug on the steep decent.

Aloha Ryan! Nice images and story. Somehow I'm pretty sure there's more to tell.

That picture of Campbell's arm reminded me of a past hunt on Molokai which ended with a permanent scar on my left forearm. I call it my 'goat scar' and wouldn't trade it if I could.

Okay...on to the next hill!

Awesome! I hope I get to come over there and share a hunt with you some day!

In for the rest of the story!

Thank you Bisch!

Bisch or Bill, if you're ever on Oahu during goat season, let me know and we'll go hunting!

Mahalo Kevin!
Yeah there's some nasty stuff on Molokai too! Was it lantena? Keawe thorn? Cat claw??? Hope your hunt went well.

Matty

Always enjoy Ryan's reads.. And videos!    :campfire:
I say we do a TG hunt HAWAII style!
Onward and upward Ryan. Keep it coming!

Cool stuff......I hate bushes that bite.....lol!

Great post! I have done some hiking on those slopes : the climbs are murder and the goats are very wary. Keep after 'em!

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

Matty,
Would be cool if we rented a beach house! That would make for a cool TG hunt!!!

No kidding Ron! I'm just glad we don't have any poisonous things that bite! I would hate crawling in that stuff if we had snakes!

Cool magonboat! Originally from here? Visiting?

We decided to check a few more pockets, but unfortunately we didn't spot or hear anything.

No goats, but we had a great day and headed back to the truck.

Luckily for us, Jerry (Island Longbow) invited us on a hog hunt.
On this hunt, we ended up splitting up. Staci and I went one way, Doug and Jerry went the other.

Shinken

Beautiful country!

I hope that Doug got to drop the string on sumthang on this trip!

Keep the wind in your face!

Shoot straight, Shinken

For the most part, the day was pretty uneventful. About an hour before sundown we decided to turn around and head back. We were almost back to the truck when we spotted a hog rooting. They insisted that Staci make the stalk. Staci didn't feel "right" about it and wanted Doug to go, but in the end she agreed. I dropped my pack and off we went. The only thing that I took was my compact point and shoot.

She made a textbook stalk but unfortunately couldn't pull off a shot. There was just no clear lanes. I was able to catch some of it on film, though the footage is poor due to the fact I was zoomed in using a compact point and shoot camera.

We couldn't leave Karen out and took a break for our yearly dinner.
