Hi Ryan,

Your local home depot or Lowes has these plastic screw protectors that work great as bow tip protectors.  I can get a pack of three for about 75 cents. The 3/8" size fits nicely on Toelke bows and I have found that 1/2" size fits good on most other bows.  I posted pictures of this in another pow wow thread here:  http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=135650;p=2

But Tim is correct.  If you use these, make sure they are not storing moisture. Maybe poke a little hole in them.

Steve, thanks for the heads up on the screw protectors.... looks like a winner, guess I know what I'll be looking for next trip to town!

One of the reasons I like the mini's is they are easy off when it gets rainy and small to stick in the pocket... and lose ....hence why I wanted several packs  :)

They look just like the ones I use on all my bows. They are from BW and then use a Fiskars scissors. Never have seen them for sale that short.

The screw protector idea looks great to me.

Yep - been using the screw protectors on my bows for over a year now and no problems. They stay put on the shot and pop off easy when you suspect moisture. Good luck to you Ryan.

Yep, I'll be headed to the big box store in the morning!

Thanks for a great idea!

Bisch

Ok, I went to HD today and found the screw protectors. All of my Sarrels bows take the 3/8" size. These are perfect. The only complaint I have is that they are bright yellow. Sure would like to find this size in grey or black. I will have to look around to find a better color that goes with my bow.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Bisch,
The 3/8" ones at Lowes are green.  Just bought 2 packages of those and a package of 1/2" gray ones.  I suspect the gray ones will go back.
homebru

Yeah, I'll be headed to Lowes this week!

Yep, got back from Lowe's a couple hours ago, bought gray 1/2 inch ones.... fit perfect.  I saw the 3/8 in green ones and thought of you, Bisch...was gonna tell you to PM me your address and I'd send you some.... hate to see any self respecting guy with those canary yellow ones.  A black magic marker would probably fix that too....

Thanks to all...!

I thought of the marker idea, but concluded that it would look even worse after it all started rubbing off!

Went to Lowes today and got the green 3/8" and the gray 1/2" ones. These are sized smaller than the ones from Home Depot, and work way better, not to mention, I got rid of that atrocious canary yellow one!

You can also cut the rubber ends off old tools like pump pliers. They also work.

meatCKR

Never thought of old tool handles but that's a great idea! Might be a way to get a black color one.

Well, I made a visit to my local Lowes and bought some of the gray and green screw protectors today.

I recently bought a 64" Samick Journey to bowfish with, and needed a tip protector.

The gray 1/2" fit perfectly; like it was made for it!
