Well Brothers & Sisters... It's time for my son Tyler to start fletching arrows, for the coming year!!! Problem is, Last year we used Fletch-Tite Platnium, on a bunch of Easton Legacy 2016's. Durability was VERY POOR, with some feathers coming off after only a few shots!!! He was VERY disheartend to say the least!!!   :(

He want's to build some wood arrows... However, our "Working Area" is very limited!!! (For dip tubes, drying & such) I'm planning on placeing a 3Rivers order for some Pre-Finished Shafts, Feathers, and GLUE!!!

My Question to you folks is... What glue works best on bare aluminium shafts??? Also, Which glue works best on Gasket Lacquer??? (The 3Rivers finish)

Many Thanks, in Advance!!!!!   :notworthy:

I have no experience with the gasket lacquer, but Goat Tuff has worked wonderful on my carbons, aluminums, paint, and polyurethane finished woods. As an added bonus, it dries very fast.

All I do for prep is scuff the area with a scotch bright pad, and wipe with alcohol.

Never had luck with the fletch-tite myself.

Fletch-Tite works great on wraps, but you are not gonna use them......   :dunno:   ...... are you?

Duco on those ones Chuck. They seal them with 3Rivers gasket lacquer.

I use a gap filling cyanoacrylate glue on all shafts and have had very good luck.

Biathlonman

I buy cheap automotive reflective tape cut to length and then use fletch tape.  Cheap, effective, little to no stink.  I do put a drop of glue on the feather ends but try and keep it to a minimum.

Ducco for Gasket Laq. For the alum I use Saunders NPV glue. I pretty much use Fletch Tite for wraps anymore, when this tube is gone I will not buy anymore.

RedShaft

Scotch bright pad to score the area. Then denatured alchohol. That is best bet. Allow sufficient adhesive times. Shaft prep with aluminum is critical.

I've been using Bohning fletch tape over Helmsman spar urethane on my arrows with no issues. It's worked well on the carbon arrows I have also. Prep is key and making sure the surface is clean with some alcohol wipes is what I have been doing. Pressing the fletch tight to the shaft after its aligned and seated with the jig and then I let them sit for a day or so.

I also use gap filling cyanoacrylate glue (mediuum viscosity).

Like many I have switched to CA glue for everything.

Thanks for all the help!!!!!  :notworthy:

I've pretty much settled on getting some pre-finished shafts & Duco, for now...

What is CA glue??? I've never heard of it... Does it have a Brand name???

CA stands for CyanoAcrylate, aka super glue.

How does the CA work for nocks on aluminum?

If you are going to wood I have used Duco and Loctite gel on my arrows that I seal with polyurethane with no issues. Hope this helps
