I have be trying to papertune arrows, but are getting all sorts of tears. Thinking it might have something to do with the paper. I'm shooting through ordinary printing paper, and it isn't showing  clean enough cuts to get a good reading. So what kind of paper is the best to use?

I don't really paper tune any more, but when I did, I used butcher paper or a cut up paper bag from the grocery store. Printer paper might be a touch too thin.

Bowwild

I like butcher paper too (brown, sort of heavy). However, I've used left-over gift wrap.  It needs to be taunt.  I've even used newsprint, again taunt.

I use body shop paper. Buy at your local auto parts store. Comes in different sizes.

I use printer paper without issue.  Do you have a good clean release?

McDave

It just so happens that I have some special carbon compatible paper that I can sell you for just $5/sheet.  They would only sell it by the package, and there were a few more sheets in there than I needed.

I just use regular old printer paper. Works well when I do my part.

I use newspaper mostly because I have plenty around, it works and it's cheap.  Whatever you use, it needs to be taut, like Bowwild said.

Gift wrap! Cheap, easy to find, and it has no "grain" so the tears are not exaggerated in any way.

I use plain ol news paper.

I rest a 2x4 on a couple stools.
Grap a piece of news paper..normally a whole sheet.
Staple the news paper to the 2x4 in 3-4 places.

Then put a couple squeeze clamps on the bottom of the paper to hold it taught.

I shoot from my knees most of the time as thats how most of my hunting shots are presented.

Otherwise I guess I'd need taller stools lol

I've used newspaper mostly, but the last package of construction paper we bought our grandsons seems a little lighter than most, and while I was playing with them, I started thinking... When I get around to trying it, I'll let you know what I think.
