Welcome

Regarding Rudder Bows, I bought a hickory bow from them over a year ago.  I never really meant to hunt with it, so I ordered a 35# bow to build up my strength in a previously injured shoulder.

Bottom line: I got a decent bow for the price.  It gave me a reintroduction into trad bows and helped me with strength and form.  I still go back and shoot it when I want to work on form.  I had a lot of arm slap from the bow, but I think in my ignorance I ignored a brace height problem.  I have since went back and raised the brace height and have had lees arm slap.
The bow I received had an extra set of string groves in the upper limb that was meant to help you string the bow with a looped thin rope.  I don't know if all of the bows come like that, but I go back and forth on whether I like it or not.  It is simple to string, but looks unbalanced.
Over all, it was perfect for what I used it for.  Your desired use for the bow will be what makes or breaks it.

Welcome! I have 3 Rudderbows in the house. A hickory youth model, a tri lam English longbow, and most recently my son got a bamboo backed hickory. They are far from fancy, but they are more than respectable shooters. For the money they are nice and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Welcome from Central NY.  :wavey:  I'm toying with the idea of buying one of the R/D bamboo Rudderbow   blanks from 3Rivers. I've got to put together a bowfishing rig first though. Maybe this summer.
