Play Misty for me......Misty Dawn...and a tough year behind me

Fore more than a year now, I have been struggling with losing my passion.  I was told that I should give up my archery because, after 45 years, my right shoulder decided to go on strike!

I could not pull 20# without discomfort.  In the wake of this bad news I decided to sell my longbows, quivers, etc.

That was a bad day that haunted me until today!

I was lucky to be at the right place at the right time and saw a JD Berry Misty Dawn string-follow in the classifieds.  I immediately replied and, much to my surprise, was the first contact!  I was the proud owner of a bow that, up until that day, I would never be able to shoot:

What gave me the green light to pull the trigger on that gorgeous bow was, in short, a second opinion.

Bottom line here to all of you who are suffering with this shoulder issue....have your Doc refer you to a specialist get a second opinion!

Now, a mini-review:

In the past two years I have owned and shot daily three different string-follow longbows prior to today.  They were very similar in performance and "feel".

Today, with great anticipation I was able to knock an arrow and shoot that James Berry creation!  A great day for an old fella!

Prior to this event I had several conversations with James...about this bow, and anything else that happened by....if you have ever talked with James, you know exactly what I mean..lol

In short, I can tell you that this bow beat the stuffins out of all the others in that she had a good tension up front (not the typical "mushy") which progressed appropriately through my full 27".  By engrained memory, even after more than a year without shooting, I can hit anchor, perfectly...and this bow ROCKS!

James, you NAILED it!!

Glad to see you are back at it .
About 15 years ago I had to stop shooting for almost 5 years because of a shoulder problem .
Thank God it finally healed up .
Hope you have many happy years of flinging arrows .    :goldtooth:    :archer2:

Tony,

Glad to see that's working out for you. I'm liking my Northstar reverse handle string follow Berry. Very well behaved at only 62".

Ray,
I'll bet you like that Northstar.  That'd be a great turkey bow!

Brian,
you're right about James.  He's good people for sure.  I wish I had a whisper of that talent he has.     :notworthy:

Those who have difficulty shooting moderate weight bows due to shoulder overuse should consider shooting with the opposite shoulder. I made the switch due to issues with target panic and snap shooting.  It was like having a new shoulder to work with.

Tony -

Hope you continue to shoot brother...we're all getting older, no doubt.

Hope to take my bow with me to Valhalla...where we can all go stumping together someday!

PT your shoulder and go lightly.

Kris
