The third week of February this year found a group of Ohio boys down in Estill South Carolina for a hog hunt at Wild Things.  I cannot think of a better way to spend a few days outdoors between the deer and turkey seasons!  While I personally didn't get a shot, several of the guys that went did have shots at hogs and should have bacon in the freezer!  One of us came back with a hog and does have bacon in the freezer.  Pic is attached.

All that said, the hunt was only part of the trip.  Let me tell you about Andrew Harper, the landowner, guide, and host.  Andrew welcomed us after a 12 hour drive with dinner.  And it wasn't just something thrown together.  This was something I'd expect when I take my wife out to eat!  And not only that - each and every meal was the same way!

Andrew is a top notch guy who desires to take care of you!  When some people are out to just collect the hunting and lodging fees, Andrew leaves you feeling you are important to him.  He took incredible care of us and spent time just getting to know us.  I can honestly say that his intentions were to make sure he left us on terms much more than acquaintances - but rather - friends.  We all now have a good friend in Estill SC.

Accommodations were comfortable and excellent.  Andrew took great care of the cabin we stayed in.  And we always felt welcome to walk up to his place to grab a piece of fruit or a fresh cup of coffee (which is appreciated by someone who drinks coffee all day long!)

For me, the hunt was great.  But greater was the entire experience.  I cannot measure success based on killed game.  Success in my book is found in answering this question - did I have a good time - and my answer is a resounding yes!  Is it 2016 yet?  I'm ready to go back!

Thanks Andrew for taking such good care of us!

Half of our crew went down today, we leave Wed for the second wave. I can hardly wait any longer!

Andrew and Charlie have become good friends and we look forward to reuniting with them each year. They go out of their way to make sure we are comfortable and having the time of our lives.

The tribe will give a full report when we return.

Congratulations on a nice hog!

Congrats on a fine hog. Andrew and Charlie are both fine southern gentleman. Gentleman like them are few and far between up here in these parts.

Andrew is a great guy! I went to high school with his son, but still haven't made it down to wild things! I need to change that..
