I want to start shooting wood arrows out of my longbow. Right now I shoot 3555 with 50 grain insert 125to 150 points cut 31.5. I draw 30.5. The bow is center cut 40@28 scales 47@30.5 for me. Never shot a wood arrow. What spine range should I try? Spine calc says 65#. Thanks all

If you want to shoot that same amount of weight up front 175-200 with the insert you will need a 65 spine. If you shoot 125-150 a 55-60 spine should work
Shooting anything other than wood arrows out of a traditional bow is....strange."

BTW, the 3555's spine at about 60 on a spine tester.  That said, I like the 55-60 recommendation.

I shoot about the same set up as you do concerning carbon arrows.  My bows really like a 55-60 spine in woods.  With my cedars I'm shooting 125 gr. field points and broadheads.  That works well.

Larry. Good call. Just spined some 3555. The ACTUAL conversion is between 60-65.

Excellent guys thank you very much.

You didn't say what type of longbow you shoot...the design does matter.  If it's a hybrid R/D design and you plan to hunt with it you might want to stay on the higher end for spine, as broadheads tend to like a little more spine than target points.  So 60-65 may be a little better fit.  Best choice, try both 55-60 and 60-65 and see what works.

TSP

Ooops, I missed that your bow is cut to center.  So with your longer draw length I'd guess that 60-65 whould be in the ballpark.  Bare shaft testing can tell you for sure.
