Many may remember Bob Jones from the Charleston SC area. Mr. Jones passed away a couple of weeks ago at 89 years of age. He was diagnosed with ALS a bit over a year ago and went downhill rather quickly.

You may remember him from the Traditional 3-D shoot that used to be held in Elberton, GA each spring. His name is on The Senior and Youth Tombstone from having won the Senior division a couple of times.

For some reason, I thought of Mr. Jones during the past week. He came up to Hickory, NC many times when Carolina Traditional Archers hosted the NC Traditional Championship shoots.

A fine gentleman and a veteran. Prayers for his family.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him, prayers go out to his family, it always hurts when we lose one of our own.

A fine gentleman who was introduced to me by John Dill many years ago. I last saw Bob at the SC state shoot at Rocks pond. His health was failing then. Sorry to hear this. DB

I didn't know Mr. Jones, may he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as well.

Even though I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Jones and shooting with him I haven't spoken with him in a few years. Sad to see he has passed away.
ALS is a really bad disease. My father-in-law succumbed to this in 1994.

The owner of The Archery Shop where I go to shoot my stickbows is building a shadow box memorial to Mr. Jones.  I donated a split limb T/D recurve Mr. Jones built for me for inclusion in the shadow box.  It is SN 2 and is one of only two of the split limb design that he built.  The bow only has a dozen shots through it.  I bought it for a keepsake and I think putting it in the shadow box memorial will be a fitting tribute to him.

Bob was one of the sweetest guys you could know, loved shooting with him. Praying God will give the family comfort in the loss of their father.

May God be with him.
God was with him when he took his last breath here on earth, and then he was with God when he took his very next breath in Heaven.  Praise the Lord!
