Does anyone have any pics of Dave's T/D or one piece longbow they would like to share? I am going to order one but I am waffling as to get the T/D or the one piece.

Mike Orton

Jim,

That Silvertip longbow is a well kept secret.  Very nice bows.  I've always wanted to get a one piece and have is cut in half to retrofit a Warren Bow Bolt into it.  I did that with a Morrison Cougar longbow last year.  My opinion; that Warren Bow Bolt is the nicest takedown system in the industry.  You might want to consider that option too.

I owned a 62" TD checkered grip.  Very smooth, whisper quiet shooting bow.  Should of never sold it.

The only thing I did not like was the take down system.  It was a solid system but I didn't like the exposed metal parts when travelling with it broken down.  They accidentally rubbed together when they were being transported and I took a chunk out of the side of my handle and scratched the crap out of it.

That is why I like the Black Widow Locket-Socket system so much.  Simple, strong and effective.

JMO,

Skinner.

the Silvertip longbow is the best...ever... for me of course ! the only R/D bow I want to shoot until I die!!
I have a 1piece 64", 60#@27".
I will get a 60" Tdown around 50-55# soon for cold weather shooting. the handle is absolute bliss

I have the second takedown longbow Dave made and my brother has the third.  I love the bow and use it a couple of times each year for hunting.  It is my favorite glass longbow and if I wasn't addicted to building selfbows it would be my primary hunting bow.  It is fast, stable, and forgiving.  My only complaint is that he wouldn't use anything but actionwood for the handle when we got ours but I believe he has changed that policy.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

After seeing the pics of Dave's 3 piece TD longbow I'm thinking of changing my order since I already have a Silvertip TD recurve.  Does anybody know if Dave is making them in 60 or 62".
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

tradtusker

He is offering them in 60"-66" lengths. There are built standard for FF. as far as i know but you better check with Dave,

cheers Andy

limbow

Is it a longbow specific riser or can the limbs fit on a Silvertip recurve riser?

it looks like as if the LB limbs fit on the silvertip TD riser, is it the case ?

tradtusker

im not sure about that guys maybe someone else could help with that, it would make sence to make the limbs interchangable.
