Last year I had trouble getting the Gobblers into longbow range.  I had one monster bird at 25 yards on 3 occasions but he just would not commit.  My neighbor ended up shotguning him and it crushed me.  He was 23 1/2 pounds with a 12" beard and great 1/ 1/4" spurs.

Yesterday the UPS man delivered a box with the Dave Smith Decoy DSD Jake.  It has amazing definition and the colors are beautiful.  The flocking on the back really sets it off.   I have used Feather Flex Decoys for a long time with geat success but all my birds have been taken with either my shotgun or compound.  Hoping the new DSD Jake will make a difference and bring them that extra 10 yards.

I don't know if this is a coincidence or not but let me tell you how good I think the DSD and AvianX decoys work.

I got a DSD jake and two AvianX hens delivered to my house two Wednesdays ago. I took them out of the boxes, inflated the hens and put all of them in my hunting closet.

This past weekend it snowed six inches at my house and I heard birds gobbling both mornings. Man, if those dekes can work from inside a closet imagine how effective they'll be when I actually pack 'em around!

I went to the DSD two seasons ago.  Like you I just could not get the birds into bow range with my old decoys.  The only time I have not had birds come right to the DSD and knock it lights out were times I think the bird spotted me.  I think you will be happy with your purchase.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Darren,
My DSDs are hanging in the garage......maybe I should just pop up the Double Bull in the back yard!  Good luck this season.

No doubt in my mind that they will make the difference!!!

Just picked up the DSD strutter earlier this year, and looking forward to using it along with my avian x hens this spring. The DSD is the best looking decoy that I have seen.

DSD, best on the market, my hunting partner and I have
Bow killed 11 in the past two years since starting using them.
I had grown gobblers run 200 yards across a field to attack my
DSD Jake. Many up close and personal fights at 10 yards or less. We even had a dominant Hen jump on our Hen decoy
Last year, talk about a buttkicking. We've had Coyotes come in on them, Bobcats and even a Great Horned Owl tried to take off with a hen last year.
I,think the Jake is the ticket, Gobblers just cannot stand for a Jake to be any where near a Hen. They pass by the hen and come straight to the Jake almost every time.
Monster buck, let us know how that Strutter works, I know some folks use them with success but I'm betting you will miss some action from young Gobblers and Jakes.

DSD Half Strut Jake has been a game changer for us. Avian X is a copy of Dave's work. I believe the research and artistry that Dave put into that decoy far surpasses anyone else's work. Something magic in the body posture of that bird that drives gobblers berserk. I have shot 2 birds while they were standing on the back of the decoy. My stake has been bent from all the abuse that poor jake has taken. DS D decoys and a Double Bull  blind have led to the demise of at least a dozen birds in the past 3 seasons between my hunting partner, son and myself. Better get the peanut oil ready!

I have to tell you, the DSD half strut makes a popup blind an insurance police.  I had two birds under ten yards not notice me just kneeling in some sparse brush they were so wound up about the jake laying on its side.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

If I could afford only one decoy, which one should it be ( hen etc ?)

Been tossing around the idea of DSD decoys for a while now... I cant decide if I want to take the plunge, but the more I read about you guys and your success the more I want to pony up.
