Kirk, where you hunt you must know of some methods to help keep feathers dry other then leaving them at home.

I have had good success with 'tire wet', used to darken/shine up tires. Put it on a couple weeks early so it can air out and stop stinking. Bad experience when combined with fletch tape but fletch tite held feathers on and will be trying out quality CA glue soon.

Bisch, what are you using to glue your feathers, I assume the Scotch Gaurd does not effect the bond.

Unmolested goose feathers. If I'm hunting were its really wet. Otherwise I use a fleece cover when using all other feathers in the rain, sleet, or snow.

Camp dry. The stuff you spray on tents, etc. To make them water repellent.

I used to use sno seal. it comes in a liquid and has a cotton ball on a stick applicator. It worked really good.

Not sure about your arrows you use or any of the details. But if you can get to about 25% or higher efoc and tune the arrow right you wont have to worry about wet feathers. Even wet feathers still stick up enough to stabilize the arrow with a broadhead and hit where you want.
I just got done shooting a huge magnus 2 blade that is 1 and 1/2 inches wide with soaking wet feathers and matted down with my hand as small as i could get them. Shot that arrow 10 times and them wet and matted again. repeated this process for 100 shots. It flew perfect everytime.
So good efoc and good tuning will make it where the feathers will still do thier job even soaking wet and matted down.

If I was to have to keep feathers dry again for some reason. I would just use seran wrap and the hair braid mini rubber bands that little girls use for braiding hair. Wrap the seran wrap around each arrow around the feathers and put one of those little rubber bands over the seran wrap just in front of the fletching. when you want to shoot the arrow just yank the seran wrap off the shaft and shoot. the little rubber band wont hurt anything left on the shaft.

I really love Feather-Dri from 3rivers. It comes as a silicon powder. You pour some powder in a ziploc bag, put the fletching end of the arrow in the baggy, and rub it into the feathers. It takes 2-3 shots with each arrow to puff the excess powder off, but once you have them done they last the whole season.

There's even videos out there of guys dipping their fletchings in buckets of water for 5+ minutes and when they pull them out they're good as new. Water just beads off the feathers. I'll probably never use anything else.

I've been using camp dry for quite a while. It stinks like heck, but I spray my fletching early, so it has time to dissipate. I'll be following this one, thanks.

I use rustoleum never I think that is what it is called. I think someone on here suggested it to me.

Go to the food store and by some food grade silicon spray and spray away!!!! I have also used normal automotive silicon both work great.

I have never noticed any difference in arrow flight when the feathers got wet and matted down, it just annoyed me !

I haven't either, with a well tuned arrow, but I still spray them.
