Years ago I remember reading about those amazing camping trailers that were used by the African Army..I think.

Anyway they were tow behind and simply amazing...anybody use them or know where they can be found...?

I just searched off road camping trailer and found ALOT of options to be had, at a price of course.

Africans and Australians have the coolest hunting campers! They also have a great selection of them.Unfortunately with customs and all they are incredibly expensive to get them shipped here.So much so that it is not feasible.Zipper Mfg. is working on an off road capable hunting camper. It will be perfect for hunting trips. The prototype is being built right now. There will be NO tent material in this camper.

Check out Expedition Portal for some links to available trailers in US...  I have a friend who is from South Africa and imports them...he is here in Charleston if anyone is interested just shoot a PM.  They are big in the Land Cruiser and Land Rover communities...both the trailers and the roof top tents (RTT).

Yes, I am a Land Cruiser guy...hahaha

Google Morris Mule Trailers. Pretty neat equipment

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Not a trailer but I'm on my second vehicle with a "Flip Pac" camper shell. Lots of people want one after they see one...Tom.

Yes!!! that's it!!!

By the way, I'm sorry I didn't initially start this out as being tied to trad bowhunting....it is of course...

I just retired from active duty Army, and after SO many years of carrying heavy stuff and sleeping on the ground in all kinds of conditions (mostly bad)I now have the luxury of doing something different...and I intend to.

I remember a thread about these a few years ago and wanted to bring that back up so I could explore some options.

My apologies for not starting the thread out the right way.

But that's it! Is it called conqueror is that a name you gave it Terry? Like nose art, but for your camper..?

This is a friend of mine's trailer. We camped a few days in it a couple of years ago and it was very comfortable and easy to set up. That sloped part was a sleeping quarters in addition to the rear part. The front of the unit just folded out and when folded in you had a very large platform to haul gear, coolers, etc. John, hope you don't mind me showing your trailer. Terry, the site should look familiar.

Russ,

Do not know if you can find one of the Aussie ones like Terry has, but Moby 1 makes similar ones but man they are pricy, $18,000. Other makers in the U.S. also around the same price.

Hi Danny....yeah...18k is gonna be too much..

I like the idea a lot and it would be great for the hunting I do so I need to get creative.

Most of the trailers I see either have everything and cost way more than I have, or they lack something like sleeping quarters...so I need to look around and see how I can make one work.

Anyone use a teardrop type?

4dogs

I had the tent type trailers for a few years ago and they worked ok. I now use an older regular hard side trailer I picked up for $1500, fixed it up the way I wanted it. Puts some racks on it, flipped the axials for alot better ground clearence etc... So much nicer! handles the weather better, plenty of room. Can cook, go to the bathroom etc inside if need be. It is a great base camp and alot cheaper to do than some of the fancy rigs and there isnt alot of places I cant drag it into.

The one I have came from South Africa.  They imported a bunch of them...bought the time the economy tanked....I got a deal on mine because of it.  I think they only had 6 left in the country at the time.
