I have two at 45#'s and one at 48#'s. I have found that to be a comfortable range for me. Plus it will get the job done on anything I hunt! Leonard.  :goldtooth:

nice thread, I'm in the middle of moving down in weight right now.

I figure I really need something around 46#@29 instead of the 50-55#@28 I've been shooting, trying anyway for the last few months.

I wish I could convince more people to lighten up(though obviously the folks on this thread don't need convincing). A run-in with a 110 pound compound left me with permanent shoulder damage. My heaviest bow now is 53#@27... and I can barely handle it. My newest Owl is 45@28. If I order another bow it will probably be 40 @28...and I have shortened my "normal" draw to about 27"

Rico

Seems I remember reading PBS  promoted or promotes a 50# bow or heavier for hunting. Anyone else recall.

41# , 43 # , 2 x 46 # . Lookin after a mistreated shoulder and since I switched to heavier arrows - good results target and huntin . Though favourite selfbow is 58# now she started life as a 47 # and I shortened her up in a moment of madness . regards Jacko

Custom longbow  48#, Bear Kodiak Hunter 45# and a Northwind flat bow   34#  which is my favorite  bow to shoot.  wife shoots a 32# bear cub. All have killed a deer or two. Don't really count.

I just started shooting and I am shooting a Martin m-14 longbow at 45lbs @ 29 1/2 inches.  Can't pull anymore right now because of shoulder surgery.  One more sleep till HO HO time.
A bad day of hunting is still far better than a good day at work.
