Hey all,

I saw a tab the other day where the guy had put Ballistic Nylon on the face instead of Cordovan.  I've never tried that and would like to.  Trouble is that I don't know anything about the material like what thicknesses it comes in, is there some tougher than others, etc..
Does anyone know enough to tell me about it and where I can get a piece that's maybe 2 feet x 2 feet?

I have two dog beds with the material, it does hold up to most abuse, but not chewing.  It is heavier than nylon and may be coated on the backside. It probably won't be as smooth as cordovan, or last as long. Used a cordovan tab for years, hard to beat.

Don't know how it will work on a tab. You may be able to get a piece by finding an American made product that's made from ballistic nylon and giving the manufacturer a phone call. Get the right person on the phone and you will be able to get a piece.

How about some ballistic Cordovan ? Just kidding, I shoot almost every day and have been shooting the same Cordovan tab for years, it still looks new !

I have been a glove shooter for years but that looks like something that I would like to try out.

Shot a cordovan tab for years, switched to the one in pics above in three under and like it more. Looks like one will last a long time. Would post a link but he is not a sponsor.
Have no idea where to get the material but just bought 2 more to have as backups.

I have carried our EFA cordovan three fingers under tab in my pocket for about the last 4-5 years. Over the years the black paint has worn off the rivets, but the cordovan is as good as new. We also make tabs of unborn calfhair which I like extremely well. However, it won't last for years like cordovan. Nylon, polyester, or polypropylene are synthetic products that have some good performance qualities, but whenever possible I'll always choose traditional and natural products. It's hard to beat leather like cordovan, or other natural organics like wood, bamboo, cotton, and wool.

I've got your 3 under "O" ring tab with cordovan and have had it for 2 years or so and it's by far the best feeling and shooting tab I have ever felt.  Using that "O" ring was a real GENIUS idea.  I've literally got a coffee can full of tabs and yours is the one I use every time I shoot.

You might ask why I would care about trying to make other tabs....fair question.  I just like to tinker.  I was making my own tabs when I found yours and I'd like to see how it would work and feel if it had some of that nylon on it.  Also, it is just a smidgen too short for my middle finger.  When I loose the string after about 30 shots, the tip of my middle finger feels like it has been hit with a tiny hammer.  Really sore.  It causes me to adjust the tab into a non-natural shooting position for me.

That's the ONLY thing that's wrong with the tab.  To anyone out there that is looking to try a tab.....do yourself a favor and ORDER AN EFA "O" ring tab.  You'll be glad you did.


By the way....what in the world does TBSC mean?

You can get old air bags from body shops (it's ballistic cloth ) but it will be white.

I also have one of the tabs shown above.

Slickest, and most comfortable tab I have ever used.

I don't think they will last as long as a cordovan face, but they are slicker, and will last long enough for me.

One of the things I really like about it is, there was no break in time for it. It shoot perfect from arrow #1 to what must be now somewhere around arrow #5000 (guessing).
