Roy Mackey, of Lone Star Game Calls, contacted me last week about making him an armguard. We got to talking and I learned about the beautiful calls he makes. Well, one thing led to another and we worked out a trade. Here are some photos of what I got out of the bargain.

These calls are made from stabilized spalted maple. Both are two-sided calls. The smaller one is slate over slate and the larger one is copper over slate. The lower striker is purple heart and the top one is dymondwood I think. Both calls sound great and I can't wait to hit the woods with them.

I just hope he likes his side of the deal as much as I like mine!

Nice looking calls, I like a good pot call and striker.

Roy's calls are top notch.  Fantastic guy to deal with as well.

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

I have one of his grunt calls but looks like I need to try a turkey..

The grunt call is amazing!

Very nice calls and two of the best woods for strikers.

I heard from Roy yesterday. He said the top striker is actually actionwood and the small call is just a single piece of slate with no sound board.

Nevertheless, they sound great. I was messing around with them in my kitchen the day I got them and had two gobblers run up on the porch and start pecking at the sliding glass door;)
