Did a search, but to no avail. Would someone please explain to me what the terms warf and quarf mean?
Thanks.

Hasbro

Warf was the name of Bob Gordon's dog. Bob developed a bow using, mostly, old compound risers and retrofitted to accept ILF and other limb fittings. So it is not an acronym.
a quarf uses Quinn limbs.

**DONOTDELETE**

A "warf" is a conversion of a compound bow riser to a single string traditional bow..... Here is an old PSE i mounted some Sasquatch SS limbs on for my nephew.

a "quarf" is what your dog does on the rug when you feed him too many Cheetos.

Kirk warf is when you convert an old compound to accept ilf limbs.  Quarf is the name people used when you just used that riser to make a recurve using the old Quinn limbs. Guys do it with sammick sage limbs now and call it a swarf. Really it's just a Frankenstein bow lol. I have a couple risers I have been hanging onto to make these for gifts. A dirt cheap, old compound with broken string ect + a set of sammick sage bolt on limbs make for a cheap good shooting bow to get your buddies into trad without it being to hard on the wallet    :)   . The most common are probably old black bear risers also hoyt Rambo pse king fisher/silver hawk and many others.

Thanks for the explanations! Now it makes sense.

Do the sammick sage limbs just bolt right on to any old riser. Like a really old bear compound???

Some take modification. I believe there is thread on tradgand called "Frankenstein bow" or some such.  Often times it using a dremel to remove a little protrusion in the riser. Also they often need to be shimmed either the limbs or the limb pockets. Commonly this is done with aluminum strips and Jb weld or Even cork!
