Leaving tomorrow for Kentucky to visit the In-Laws for Thanksgiving...............and mainly to hunt!!Really hoping I can turn my bleak season around some by hunting some new ground.Should have 3 days of nothing but hunting, and even better it's on land that doesn't get hunted except maybe by the occasional poacher.

Wish me luck, hopefully I'll have some good pics and a story to share when I get back.

Good luck!  Where are you coming.  I've been drawn for the Ft. Knox gun hunt this weekend.  I wish they would let you use a bow, but they won't allow it for the quota so I'll have to settle for the muzzleloader.

I'ts a good time to be here, but the gun hunters are out.  Please be careful.  Those guys scare me sometimes.

Grants Lick is the name of the little town(Campbell and Butler counties) my FIL lives close to.I'm packing the muzzleloader, didn't realize till yesterday gun season was gonna be open while we were there.I plan on using the bow mainly, but if push comes to shove.........................

Hey Mike,

I know Grants Lick very well. I go to church at Plum Creek Christian Church in Butler. I live in Ft. Thomas, but I have a farm in Butler.

Both Butler and Grants Lick are sprawling metropolis'. NOT!! You won't find nicer people than in that area!

You can shoot me a PM if you need anything. If I were going to be in town I see if you'd like to hook up on my farm. Attached is the buck I took last year from my farm.

You're more than welcome to use my Archery range on the farm. It has 4 deer, 2 hogs, 2 bears, and a couple of ground hogs, all Mckenzies, with a shooting platform.

Good Luck,
Joe

Thanks for the offer Joe,maybe I can put some of those arrows I got from you to good use.

Nice buck,I only hope I can see something as nice.I also understand the fall turkey season is in for archery. How's the fall turkeys around the area??

Lots and lots of turkeys. I had 7 Tom's go by me yesterday evening at about 40 yards. A couple of them had their beards dragging the ground while they hustled by me. The bigger two probably went 25-30 lbs.

Pendleton county(city of Butler's county) has the third highest total for Turkeys taken(spring season) in the state.

I passed on a few 7 and 8 pointers early in the season. Now I'm paying for it. I haven't seen anything, of any size, in a month and a half. I have taken a couple of does for the freezer.

Don't forget your orange, even if you're bowhunting. During gun season(11/10 thru 11/25) you have to wear the orange stuff!!

Unfortunately it's hard to get in close to a turkey wearing blaze orange!!
God is good all the time, all the time God is good!!
