Of course it depends on the tones of your other wood choices, but I really like the dark Bocote.

And don't forget you can stain any wood to make it darker so if you like a certain grain pattern you can have it darkened to match.  These Curly Koa veneers didn't start out this dark. Great thing about staining veneers is you can take a wood that doesn't really match and stain to match your color combo.

Myrtle burl or spalted maple would be some real lookers. I have both wood veeners on my Widow PLX bows.

I never like overly busy patterns. My Wes Wallace has curly maple front and back.

Figured walnut can be striking and being a native midwest wood it will blend in nicely.

Just saw some tamo ash limbs on caribow inventory page that looks spectacular!  I like bacote too.  Seems there are ten times the choices today compares to 15 years ago.  I had never before heard of sepale, crema etimoe, or kingwood before I started looking at custom bows last year.

I have been going thru the same problem Dennis but when I seen those Waterfall Bubinga my mind was set and my order for my New Woods Vanguard was called in . Now the wait starts in or earnest.

I have Waterfall Bubinga on a Wild Horse Creek with Sheep overlays.  The the same on a Black Widow PSAX.

Lots of choices for sure. Waterfall bubinga is one of my favorites too, Bowmark and Keith. I chose Carpathian Elm Burl for the limb back veneers and Birdseye Maple for the bellies.  I'll post some pics when the limbs come. I'll just have to buy a few more bows, so I can try some of these great wood combos.
