I am mainly a glove shooter but have been playing around with a tab. I have a Black Widow calf hair split finger tab and I like the thickness of the tab but can't stand the three different layers in it.
Is there a tab out there with similar thickness and feel of the string with only one layer? Doesn't have to be calf hair.

Have you given that tab a reasonable period to get used to it...say a thousand shots?

DDave
I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

jt85

Not a thousand a few hundred probably but I can't grab my string consistently with out looking and keep the different layers from folding up on me.

I am sold on the Saunders Pak-Tab. You can make it as thick or thin as you want it with all the pieces it comes with. I shoot split, but I think they also have a new 3-under version now.

I use a Bateman cordovan layers .van tab. It has two layers. I liked it better than the black widow tab.

Hey, Jason. Have you tried just using a little double sided tape between layers? Or maybe a little contact cement or super glue on the tips to keep the layers together? Just a thought....

jt85

Tony super glue and cement dry solid and would probably take away from the flexibility of the tab and the tape I doubt would hold up.      Bisch does the non adjustable ring ever bother you?

I really like the Cordovan tab. They are thin, but thick enough that I can shoot my 56lb bow all day & not get sore fingers.

The ring fits my finger just right. I have shot the Pak-Tab so long, sometimes I forget it is there until someone asks me what the heck that thing is on my hand! When I need to, I just spin it around to the outside of my fingers and do whatever I need to with my hands.

What sold me on it at first was that it is made out of that rubber or plastic or whatever it is. It is broken in out of the box, impervious to water, does not hold scent like a leather tab, and is slicker than owl droppings!

I shoot split also and found the Fred Eichler tab from 3R's to be the best I've used.

It's just personal.  Tabs and gloves are very individual to the shooter.  I love my black widow but I have a safari tuff on the way to try out.

I agree Bisch, just today I was out stumping, and didn't realize I still had my tab on till I drove off the mountain, all the way across town and reached for my wallet at the drive thru!!  It just starts to be natural.

I totally agree with Bisch.  Once I tried the Pak-Tab, I've used nothing else.  Completely your call on how many layers, slick, and sturdy.  The fellow who sold me my first one got me to use a medium size, though I use a large for everything else.  The ring stays tight on my finger, and the tab doesn't extend out past my fingertips, all of which gives me the best release I've found yet.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the responses. One good thing about tabs is for the most part they are not that expensive so it won't hurt to much to try a couple out.

And that is what it is going to take. Like was said above, what tab you like is totally personal preference, and what one guy raves about, the next guys bashes as the worst thing out there!

Good luck finding what works for you.

Longtime glove shooter . Shot a lanrich tab and loved it but lost it and couldn't  find another . That said just got a tab kit from Dan tolke  love it . If your want a great tab with thickness that you can adjust  get a tolke.
