Figured I'd ask y'all about this. I'm wanting to start small game hunting as such I need to set up some arrows for it. Currently I'm shooting 225gr field points I don't want to use them so I was going to order a few blunts. I was thinking of getting the 145gr Ace Hex Head screw-ins and backing them with a 75gr Forge Converta blunt.

This would get me 220gr of weight and I can just add a 5gr weight if the difference matters at all.
So, here my questions, Would the Converta Blunt fit behind the Hex Head? and lastly Does it need it?  

I thought about just putting a washer behind my field points but I don't have very many and I'd like to have a set for practice and a set for hunting and stumping.

Here's some I have behind a 175 grain field point. I think they are supposed to fit behind any 5/16 field point. I don't know if the ace hex heads are wider at the rear than a standard field point. There is a recess down in the coverta blunt,so if it ace were too fat it wouldn't go all the way down and seat. I don't know if you would even need it with the ace hex head. You could try it with a standard 145 grain point and give it a try.

I've looked at those as well. From what I've heard both the Ace Hex Head and the Hammers have the same problem. They tend to snake under grass. They both have a similar design but I was told the Hex heads tend to be stronger which is why I was interested in them. That and you get twice as many for about the same price.

Just go and buy a box of washers and put them behind your field points. A lot cheaper and work just as well.

Or take a steel blunt and slide a rubber blunt over the top.

Absolutely devastating on hares/rabbits and grouse.  I cant vouch yet for tree rats but  I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to lay them out cold!

You wont believe it until you try it....I didn't.  My buddy Coop (board member) put us onto it long before it was written in TBM, he also passed that info on to the writer (can never remember his name).

They don't snake too bad...open up a huge hole in the snow (easy to 'track') and flat lay critters out cold!   Whack a tree once you'll get the picture of the energy its hitting with!

Judos still work for us, just hard to get the weight up where you want it.  Washers are options

I have been using the Hammer Heads exclusively. They really smash small game at 250gr. Yours look like they will work fine, but seems like a lot of stuff up front.

The first two are hammers, third is... I forget, and two field points. All 250 gr.
