I recently bought some Rocky Lynx 16" snake boots. Got them online. They seem to fit OK but they have hard places that rub my ankle pretty badly. I mean real stiff and pokey in areas. Reckon these will break in or? I thought maybe of using some real heavy socks and walking around the house in them as I dont want to ruin them for a return? What say ye?

reddogge

I wouldn't tolerate a boot that hurts. I'd return.

New boots shouldn't be hurting your feet. They should be snug, not tight, with a little movement in the heel that'll go away as the boot breaks in. They should not be rubbing in any place. I'd send them back if I were you. Only wear the socks that you'll be wearing while in the field. If you'll be wearing thick socks with the boots then wear them. But don't break them in with thin socks and switch to thick or vise versa. You might create hotspots or make a good fitting boot not fit.

Send them back tomorrow! Check the post about Rocky's decline in quality. Don't get stuck and disappointed.

Thanks for the replies. Sending them back is prolly the wise move.

I bought a pair of the new Irish Setter snake boots and they are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever put on my feet, can't speak for their durability yet but if I was you I would send the Rockies back and take a serious look at the Irish setters.

The Vaprtreks I believe is what they are called. Besides being comfortable they are very light weight also

High boots don't work for some. I have never had new boot issues except with snake boots and I've tried 3 pair from $150.00 to $400.00 same painful tear up heels and ankles issues. Tried not lacing up top half of boot no better. Gave em all away, rather die from snake bite than endure that mess again.

Gave my Rocky Snake boots away....hated them.  Don't own any snake boots anymore.

I wear high quality hunting boots; Danner Pronghorns or Redwings with snake gaiters.  I move a lot and this works out best for me.  I have had the best luck with Snake Guardz snake gaiters.  They are comfortable, last forever, and are snake proof.  Brian

Don't hesitate. Send them back immediately.   :campfire:

I have Danner Jackal GTX snake boots and they were comfortable right out of the box. I highly recommend them.

Forget snake boots. Get some Bell Ranger #280 canvas snake leggings and wear with your regular leather boots. Google them. I've been using the same pair since the mid 1980's.
