So what did the Wensel and Mitten people shoot this year?  Haven't seen anything on this.

Well Mike took a Super Big Moose in September and I have proof of that Thanks to Mike's kindness to my daughters! I'm not sure of any whitetails but I'm sure Mike has taken plenty of video footage and maybe someday we'll see another great Wensel and Mitten video..Mike if you read this I won't ever forget your Kindness to my three daughters...

After taking the Alaskan moose early in the hunt, I had an extra week off work to add to the two weeks already reserved for whitetail hunting. Adding to that extra days and weekends, I spent a lot of days chasing big bucks this year. In our area we went through two years of EHD deaths in a row, so this season my brothers and I were a little reluctant to shoot any of the nice 3 ½ and 4 ½ year old bucks. I saw quite a few good bucks including a 7 ½ year old buck we have been after for 4 years and several in the 160 to 180 class.

I did take a doe at close range, and missed a couple coyotes who like to jump the string. Ha! Mid November was very cold as well as the late season, so I got my fill of all day sits in -0 wind chills.

During mid November, my brother David got bit by a feral cat that infected his wrist and hand causing them to swell up into a good portion of his forearm.  He was hospitalized for 6 days, but antibiotics finally took over the bacteria, averting surgery. He lost a good portion of his hunting though.

My brother Mark took  good 5x5 buck with double droptines through the chest with a stone head. Mark, myself, and Gene should be at the Expo in K-zoo at the end of Jan.

I still have 3 more days to hunt this season, so I hope to have more stories by then. Mike

Mike,
are those Kaiser Customs in your quiver??
Your Chicken from McDonald's, Tyson Foods, or Perdue Farms spent most of it's life stuffed in a cage with three or four others, occupying a space about the size of a book page...None for me, thanks...

Congrats mike on a fine doe and tell mark congrats on a DANDY of a buck but I must say harvesting the buck with the stone point is the icing on the cake!!  :clapper:

Mike made or perhaps I should say got another good shot with his camera on his moose hunt that will be the next cover for the Wisconsin Traditional Archers magazine. It is a very stunning shot that is pure trad.

Mark found a shed to that buck a couple years ago, and he feels the buck was 6 1/2. When he uses the stone tipped arrows, he makes sure the shots are very close. This is his second big buck taken with stone. This buck was about 13 yards away.

Don-  Yes I used Kaiser Custom arrows all deer season. The shafts were footed Hexshats, four fletched and tipped with Abowyer or 175 gr Woodsman Elite BH. The total arrow weight was over 750 gr.
