I think there was a thread on this a while back, but I couldn't find it. I need to find a layer that blocks the wind when wearing my wool stuff. As it is, the wind blows through. Any suggestions? I would prefer something not in a commercial camo pattern. Thanks.

Hunters Image has a wind blocker vest to go with their wool products.  I like mine.

sheepdogreno

Dunno if realtree still makes its "wind jammer" material. I had one that was lined with this material and fleece outside. No wind cut it I used it as part of my layering
I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6

Tradtech Titan 2 is my go to platform

search GatorSkins shirts/'apparel on the web..'great stuff

I wear a golf shirt over my base layers and under the top layer or two.  Keeps heat in and wind out, also waterproof.

I agree with the sleeveless golf shirt, Its and under layer so no need for camo and a whole lot cheaper. Look at Academy or Dicks.

If you have rain gear then I would try that.

Good luck

A suggestion, get in a quiet room with the clothes you intend to wear including the wind blocker layer and draw your bow a few times. You may find that the wind blocker garment makes enough noise to be a problem.

I have a Filson vest. It is wool, but used as a layer, it does a good job of blocking wind. We do occasionally have wind in Wyoming.

NOw that right there is one of the funniest things I've read on TG...

Everytime I'd gear up to flyfish with my 9' 5 wt rod, the wind was laid down...till I got to the Madison streamside, I had to turn around, hike back to the truck and regear with the 9' 7wt cause of the wind...

X2 on the noise factor... then try it again when the windblocker is COLD... and do NOT exert wearing windblocker stuff, cause you'll be soaked...if wind doesn't get in, sweat doesn't get out... and yea, I read the commercials about the Gore Wind blocker... must be some cool cats get away with that or they don't SWEAT like I do humpin a stand in or putting one up...I sweat!

Pat did the wind blow blow up there? We have only been in the 70-80 MOH range the last two days. I hoping it doesn't get really windy.

I will second the gator skins. Also cabelas has a lot of wind shear options. Look into some of the biking suppliers Gore is making a big step into that market.

The Hunter Image "WindBlocker" vest is hard to beat for all around adaptability. Can't beat Teresa for providing quality products at affordable prices. Give her a call.

All in for the Windblocker Vest from Hunter's Image/ Asbell!!! I have the high neck version and it's incredible.... I layer up with it and no bulk problems, plus its quiet & comfortable. Check it out for sure.

cahaba

I have some Cabelas fleece with windshear. It's their least expensive stuff called Legacy Fleece. It is dead quiet and not bulky.

I like Cabela's wind stopper wool sweater, not real thick and really blocks the wind.
