Injuries and priorities haven't allowed me to mess with archery much in several years.  Anyway, I want to cut some new finished 2016's down in length.  In the past, to remove the point insert I used to just heat up the end and with a field point in place, and grab it with a pliers and pull it out.  Tried it yesterday and no go.  Does anyone no if Easton is still using hot-melt to install inserts, or is it some other kind of glue now?

Thanks

Sounds like they may epoxied in.  Heat will still work, but be careful to get them to hot as to lose temper in shaft.  Try to twist and rotate insert out.  then clean inside of shaft with a rifle barrel cleaning brush.  Then put insert into a drill tightening the chuck down on the field point and use a wire brush to remove epoxy from insert.

Might be super type glue. I would get a long field point and heat that instead of to much heat on shaft.

I have had some tough ones to get out of aluminum, just took more heat.I think someone epoxied them in.I have always used a hot melt for my aluminum arrows. You say you want to cut them down.I would just cut them down and get some new inserts, cost about $3 to $4 a dozen. If you damage one arrow trying to get them out, inserts are cheaper.Depends on how much you want to cut them down, would it be shorter then a insert?

If you have the uni nock you can pull the nock and insert  a drill bit in the shaft & swing hard(swing the shafts in safe direction ) the bit acts like  a slide hammer
