New to trad. I need help with picking an arrow spine. I'm shooting a 50lb pull at 28 inch recurve.I only draw about 26 inches and plan on shooting 27inch aluminum arrows. Any starting points. I've been shooting some 1916 with 100gr. heads . I can't shoot good enough to tell if these are the right or wrong size. Thanks Sam

Probably not to far off but I'd chose a 2016 or even a 2018

probably a 2016 full length with a 125 or 145 grain tip would be sufficient. Also depends on what kind of bow and how its cut etc...1916's should also work great.  I shoot a 29" 1916 out of a 45lb bow at 27"s with a 145 grain point and they fly great.

I think your 1916's with 100 grain heads seem about right.  You might want to try 125 grain heads and see if you can tell any difference.  What you want to look for is any wobbling of the arrows in flight.  If you're just learning to shoot, some of your arrows are going to wobble anyway, so you're really making comparisons over a number of shots, to see if there is any less wobble one way or another.

Eventually, when you have your form down, I recommend shooting bare shafts because then you can answer your own questions about this.
