Been trying a few new hang ons this year. What the heck is with opening the box and it needs to be fully assembled?? I remember when you opened the box and we're ready to roll.    Bill

I hear ya, but you know. . .  I think I want my hand in putting the pieces together.  I got a cheap climbing stick and the nuts were so loose that I could wiggle them off the bolts without screwing them.  They got pitched right quick.

You might consider looking into Millennium Stands, ready to go out of the box (but as with all stands always double check hardware for tightness).

Their M100U Hang-On, IMHO, is one the most comfortable stands on the market today. I have 3 Herniated Discs in my lower back and did a few 12 hour sits in mine this year, and was very comfortable.

Can't say that about most other stands I've tried ... and I've tried a bunch!

I think it has more to do with the factory time. Less time in the factory or on the production line the less labor a manufacturer has to pay. It seems it is quicker to put all the parts in the box and ship it out than it is to pay someone to put it together before hand. I am sure without a doubt liability and the other things mentioned have some part but I would say it all comes down to well...the bottom line.

You ever buy a ladder stand lately? They do that to fit them into a little box. To me it's fun work.

I like changing the bolts to grade 5 or 8 anyway so it saves me time.

I absolutely love the Millennium stands and that's the only brand we sell.
The m150's are not assembled but are well worth the effort as they are the crème of their line up.
A lot of assembled stands would require boxes much bigger for shipping making them less affordable.

As a product liability lawyer, the issue isn't liability. Proper assembly at the factory significantly reduces liability but that labor and the packaging for a fully-assembled unit significantly increases cost. Almost certainly, the components are assembled overseas, shipped in different shipping containers across the Pacific and then individual unit cartons are put together in a warehouse here in the probably from several different sources. That way they  can pack the containers quickly and they aren't paying to ship cardboard. I heartily recommend close inspection during assembly.

I agree with beendare.  The hardware is absolute junk.  I don't even think it would test to grade 3!, and it's the first thing to rust on the stand. Most of it is either 6MM or 1/4-20, which in my opinion is too small to begin with. An upgrade to at least grade 5 is the first thing I do.

I only buy Summit stands....never any issues or problems.  Other than sticking some grip tape to the platform maybe,  I dont remember ever putting anything together.

Find an older Gametamer TS 32 which today is the same as a Woodsey Too, Grey Ghost hang on. 500 lb capacity, fits level on any crooked tree you'll run across, comfy seat with a back, seat swivels 360 degrees so you can easily turn and shoot directly behind the tree, platform is big enough to stand up and shoot.
By far the most comfy, safest and well built hang on stand I've seen.....oh yeah.....built right here in the Republic of Texas.
