It seems when I spin test it takes more finagleling to get the head to hummm versus some snuffers. I stick a snuffer on the end of the arrow and in a couple of adjustments its spinnin fine. However with the WW it takes time after time.

I got the same problem. I get them close as I can and test shoot them before sharpenig. They usally do fine.

I had the same problem with my last batch, I used to really love those heads! I heard they are tooling up to make them better than ever and sharp too!

I hope so. That last batch I bought was not very good compared to a few years ago.

Are you cleaning the inside of the ferrule? Are you making sure the hot glue or whatever glue is evenly distributed on your taper? What are you making your taper with? Is your taper true?
I haven't had much problem but then all the Wensel Woodsmans I have are from the first 2 years they came out.

If you are shooting wood, the first thing I'd look at is your taper.

Learn to shoulder your taper and you wont have this problem ever again!  Unless of course the arrow is crooked, then the taper will be off.  I save these for my practice arrows and the straightest for my bh' arrows.  

Like C2 is saying make sure the head is seated and not "floating" on hotmelt.  If it floats on the hotmelt, it'll be a pain to get alignment, though not impossible.

I also had good luck with the WW and Snuffers, and just about every other head I have had as long as the taper was on.

I did have some heads the original WW's that were off.  That was back in the Biggie HOffman days, and he promptly fixed it and they all spun perfectly on the new arrows.

Lastly, if you Nip the tip off you might end up making the tip not true to the axis of the shaft.   So try spinning them on rollers and not on the table if you will.   If that tip is off at all, you'll never get a true reading of how that head is mounted and you'll fit it tooth and nails all the way home.  Atleast I did.  I dont like the needle point, but I don't want to screw up alignment even more so I can deal with the needle point.  

Plan on shooting a bear sometime soon with a WW.  Be the first head I've used to actually hunt big game with since I first started 17 years ago.  Eskimo's rule, hard to change when something works so well.

Why oh why does the snuffers not have the same problem with the same technique? Hmmmm.

My experience has been just the opposite from yours: The Wensels spin really well and I have problems getting the snuffers to spin true.

Paul:
The woodsman have such a needle point that some of them out of the package will be slightly bent. Just take a file and holding it at an acute angle slightly blunt it on all three sides and I think your problem will be corrected.

I dont know snuffers all spin true and woodsmans perfectly true try mounting and spinning turn slightly before hot melt drys and you are set at least thats how I do it and I dont have any problems  

The Woodsmans and the Snuffers use the same ferrule.    That doesn't mean they'll all be exactly the same of course, but they should be close.

Aromaker's point was also right on, occasionally the needle tip will have a tiny roll or burr on it that can affect spin.

It can be frustrating though, I know what you mean. I've had some that were a dream and others that for whatever reason required more effort.

sorry should read, the new head from Biggie spun perfect on the old arrows.....  Fingers move faster then my brain which is just way to easy these days   .   I didnt touch those shafts anymore then I had before I tried mounting the original heads that were off.   Dunno about a burr though, I spun them both in my cresting jig and a spin testing jig and they were off there too, on straight shafts to boot!

Well, if anyone wants to get rid of their woodsman's, just let me know.
