A June hunt is going to mean a private land hunt in South Carolina. For public land Wildlife Management Units, you'll basically be looking at any date between September 15-January 1, March 2-7, and March 15- May 1.

As far as seeing hogs everyday, well, you'll be hunting wild free-range animals, so no, you couldn't be guaranteed to see hogs every single day. The only place you'd be able to do that is on private land with feeders set up, which is a great way to go. Or in a fenced-in type outfit, which, IMO, isn't hunting.

Like the others said, June-August is going to be miserable. Seriously miserable. Once the spring growth comes in, and the temperatures rise, the bugs and snakes come out. That's the time to be fishing.

I know our type of hunting isn't what you are looking for, and certainly many folks do not consider it hunting at all. We use corn feeders on small tracts of private land. It has been our experience that landowners in South Florida are pretty picky who goes after their hogs, even though they are a nuisance.

And certainly to each his own as far as your style of hunting.

Some guys do not mind walking all week and not seeing much game. We used to have a lease in  Southern GA. It was that way, because the leases that surrounded us were dog hunters with no respect for boundaries or hunting style. They knew we had feeders and would start their dogs there when we were not around.

When it comes down to taking home meat, most guys will agree that a corn feeder does a pretty good job of keeping hogs around and offering the most shot opportunities. It is also possible to "stalk the feeders" as many times hogs will bed close by.

Hunting over a feeder is as easy as...."Like shooting fish in a barrel"?

Not exactly.

We've seen many trailing jobs that ended in a blood trail that did not produce. And we are talking shot distances around 15 yards from a low (ten foot) elevated stand. Vitals are small, hogs are moving, you know the deal.

So, in our opinion, it is still a skill and a definite legitimate style of hunting.

We have some spot and stalk opportunities in South Florida, but not enough for five guys all week long.

Australia might be good, for truly wild, free range, unrestricted roaming, as was mentioned.

Certain outfitters in Texas may also be good. Lots more acreage than we have.

I might also check Argentina.

The trouble with public WMAs in Florida are the very limited amount of time they are open for hunting.

I would also listen to what "killinstuff" has to say. He is a good friend and has hunted hogs in as many places as anybody....knows what he is talking about, and would help you in any way with his advice.

Hog heaven was in Estill, SC  and some of the terrain in the harvest pics on wildthings site look a lot like the terrain in some of the hog heaven pics (the top of the hump),,,, ok here I'll ask it,,, is Hog Heaven now Wildthings????

Hey Ted, the property is one and the same. Ray ran Hog Heaven out of the old camp on the North end of the property, Andrew is running Wild Things out of the new camp on the South end. That is why the accommodations look so different.

I made the recommendation based on having enough space for a bunch of guys to go spot-stalk. You need serious acreage for that kind of thing. I've always wanted to hunt with TSA on one of my Florida trips, but it hasn't worked out yet.

i have traveled to Florida from the UK to hunt with true south adventures on a few occasions.
they are a great outfit but hunting is mostly from  trees as to not push the hogs out of the area. although i have taken 2 boar stalking into the stand site.
if you are looking for open country spot and stalk with good opportunity's Javelina would be a good choice with some over the counter tags available.  plus dont forget other European countries like Hungary  or Spain.

Don't count out June....not sure if its early June you are looking at or not....but I've killed and been in camp plenty of times in June when hogs were Killed.

Rob killed 2 with me the same night and had I don't know how many stalks the next two days and it was in the 90s.  They get on them blackberries pretty hard in June to at times.
