Finally made it home to TN to hop in a tree stand.  I don't think grass and trees  have ever looked so good. I live in El Paso and it lacks these two great things. Took up trad archery not too long ago with a Samick Sage and shot as much as Uncle Sam would allow me too.  I was able to come home on leave and it has been great. Definitely something I will remember forever. I recently bought a Bear Montana to become my hunting bow and so far I love it.
With three trad sits under my belt and one squirrel KIA, I finally had a close encounter with a deer. Rather unconventional but awesome none the less. I was headed back out to my stand for an afternoon sit and walked right up on a nice doe. We locked eyes and then I seemed to become invisible shortly after. I was not prepared for this encounter bc I had my bow in hand, glove in my pocket, and arrows in my quiver. I slowly took a knee and maneuvered over to some small bushes. With this doe working her way too me she came out of the hardwoods into the small open area I was positioned in. Once she stepped foot in the open area I was not invisible any more. We had a stare down for about 10 min. I decided if she showed notion of turning around I would draw and give flight to my first whitetail trad arrow.
As she turned I drew to my anchor and let it rip. She jumped the string and turned + 90 degrees to the left making her quartering away. The arrow stuck in her and off she went. I walked back to the truck and came back 3 hours later. My brother and I tracked her about a mile where we jumped her from a bed. Backed out last night and will go back later this afternoon to give her ample time to expire. With the amount of blood we found I assumed she was dead, but she's a tough girl. I am confident she is dead in her next spot she bed down. Will update tomorrow.

Fantastic. Make sure you figure out the broadheads path of travel so you will know why she went so far. I am assuming only one or no lung?
