I have some climbing sticks that are great; except the mounting system is a little noisy.  I am wondering if any of you guys have had to quiet a metal on metal contact.

I was thinking electrical tape, but didn't know how well it would hold up.  I don't think it will take much, as it is just a clip like one that goes on a lanyard, but is a lot heavier duty.

I know a lot of guys use cloth camo tape with good results.

I have some leverage climbing steps with a metal clip like you're talking about.  I've been thinking of ditching the strap and clip and re-rigging with climbing rope.   there are several videos on youtube about methods.

I've converted most of my climbing stick sets to the climbing rope.  Great system that is noiseless and easy to put up!

Haha, i am talking about the leverage sticks.  I want to do some modifications to them, just don't have time before tomorrow when i'm going hunting.

Whip, can you give me some details?  maybe a "how to" or a link to how to do it?

Sell it all at a garage sale, and use the money to buy a nice ground seat.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Jerry, no offense to ground hunters, but i thoroughly ENJOY my trees.  I don't care for the ground.

Hockey stick wrapping tape, in black, does well.  Some people spray the aerosal foam stuff into the cavities in the sticks, stands, seats, etc. to stop the hollow ringing noise.

I was going to share what I did to my stand.. I found a thread online that you could make your own Versa Button system(lone wolf) system.

This is what my stand started like(leverage stand).

this is what I found online..

Looks good! It looks like those are hardened bolts, correct?  Can you share how you made those and what materials were used?

yes.

Due to my stand being a leverage and not a square tubing like a LW, I had to use a little longer bolts.  The only thing that will vary is the length of the bolt.

1 - grade 8 bolt 1/4" by 2.5" long. (this will vary according to which sticks you have)
2 - 1/4" washers
1 - 1/4 fender washer (wide one)
1 - 1/4" husky socky(supposed to use a 1/8" by 3/4" galvanized pipe coupling, but I couldn't find any at a local store.)
1 - 1/4" nylon lock nut.

Put them on in this order(what i did).

1/4 washer, fender washer, sock, stand, 1/4 washer, lock nut.  VERY EASY and VERY CHEAP!!

most expensive part was the 1/4 washers which were under $2/ socket.

Not that it matters, but I put the socket head(fattest part) towards the top of the bolt.  I figured that having the smaller part of the socket towards the stand would give it less "play room" than having the working end towards the stand.

I plan on doing this to every stand I get from here on out.  Now I'm just waiting on some rope to come in the mail.
